This pours a cloudy golden straw-tan with billowy foam atop of it. There’s a distinctly floral, honeyed, almost-pollen aroma. Flavor is light, delicate, and sweetly floral. I am not familiar with gale but I will forever associate it with this brew. No indication of the 7.5% ABV in the least. Light and crisp with a curious finish. This was delightfully delicious and an interesting alternative to hopped ales.

330 ml bottle, as Gageleer Original, brewed for Biosano by Proefbrouwerij Lochristi. Bought at Bio Station Store, Antwerpen Centraal. ABV is 7.5%. Slightly hazy golden colour, huge white head. Aroma of Belgian ale yeast, white kandij sugar syrup, stewed fruits and bog myrtle / sweet gale. Flavour of surprisingly distinct bittering hops, bog myrtle, medium sweet malts and sugar.

De Belgiuminabox. En copa Grimbergen. Jugando a Doom Eternal y SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom. Un Belgian pale con un toque de hierba realmente interesante que la hace más refrescante y facil de bebé de lo habitual en el estilo

L- A deep brown/orange with a very slight haze (more sediment was left in the bottle). Pours with a 3-4mm ultra fine-bubble pale tan head [ps holds very well, forms huge lacing all over the glass].
S- It does have quite a distinct smell to it, but not something I'd heard of or could ID (Bog Myrtle!).
T- Different! The flavour has quite some pungency but then I'd expect that from an 8.5% anyway. But the core flavours here seem to be a deep roasted cocoa (dark) chocolate aspect.
F- The feel is of quite a punchy higher ABV% beer, medium/rich too.
O- This would make a good slow-sipping beer in colder months. The cocoa/chocolate aspect is striking too, since none is added as an ingredient, does the bog-myrtle impart this? Most intriguing, well made and balanced and just a little bit different at the same time.
330ml bottle BB: 04/12/20. Bought from BelgiumInABox (Antwerp/BE) for home delivery to me in London/UK.

First bottle at Au Daringman in Brussels, and a second one later with friends. Quick review from written notes.

Deep saturated gold, ample foam billows above the glass rim, more than two fingers width. Lasting coverage and sticky collar of lace.

Typical Belgian ale yeast aroma, phenolic and floral, bready.

Light herbal notes of the sweet gale, though seemingly not as pronounced as the earlier bottle for some reason. Honey, mineral, floral, malt sweetness, phenolic yeast. Multivitamin and multi-grain bread.

Ample carbonation, effervescent, lightly sweet at first, finishing somewhat dry with a yeasty aftertaste. Medium bodied. A little more average the second time around. Might try to find the other versions to compare.

Look: typical belgian blond, somewhat hazy. Poured from a bottle, the head disappeared quite quickly
Smell: Besides your typical yeast, bread, and fruit you get from any blonde, the sweetgale (gagel) kicks in with some resin and pepper.
Taste: au par with the smell. Sweet bread and the sweetgale is very present with a Peruvian pepper taste (like pink pepper plus tons of resin). Aftertaste is nice and not cloy at all.
Feel: the expected.
Not the most spectacular blonde in the World, but definitely worth a try if you come accross it.

Clear golden colour (like a pilsener), with a frothy head and nice retention. Typical belgian blond flavours in the taste and smell: grass, baked bread, citric. Would have been pretty average, if it wasn't for the gale: it gives this beer's taste a very welcome touch: A mouth full of spices and a bitter and dry aftertaste. The gale lingers in the mouth after the finish. Refreshing as well, worth a try.

Clear golden color with a huge head with good retention and leaving lots of laces.
Very aromatic, full of herbaceous uncommon notes; I guess the myrica gale used in the recipe predominates. Hints of ginger, anise and lemon.
Unique flavor with notes of anise, white pepper, herbal hops, oxidized oranges, sure myrica gale, sweet malt, pineapple, maybe licorice and green tea. Dry aftertaste with lingering herbaceous notes.
Light to medium body with good carbonation. Alcohol of 7.5% abv is hardly noticed.
A medicinal herbaceous Belgian Pale Ale with myrica gale predominating. I found it educative, but I did not feel passionate about it. I think juniper goes better in beer recipes.

Pale yellow in colour, a bit hazy and with a creamy white head. Smells like a typical Belgian pale ale, with notes of hay, fresh cut grass, baked bread, spices, some sweet bananas. The taste is bitter-sweet, honey, bitter herbs, bread, Belgian yeast. It has a slight medicinal aftertaste that is a bit bothering for me.
