Sampled this at Sarah's Restaurant (co-located with Twin Schooners Pub) in Wiscasset. Served in a plastic :-( !?! ) mug with lunch.
Brown, nearly opaque, with reddish tint, modest head of brownish cast, reminiscent of the foam on espresso.
Good aroma, bready with hints of hops and sweetness. Tasted fairly complex with good malty sweetness, balanced by hoppy bitterness, coffee flavor notes. Good start, but finishes tangy to sourish with some good residual hop flavor.
Mouthfeel was almost watery, relatively low carbonation, some malty stickiness/chewiness.
Overall an interesting ale with authenticity and local freshness. I could drink a few, but it's not my preferred style. More hops and less sweet than some (boring) brown ales. Definitely worth a try when you see it offered.

17 oz. on draft in a stemmed oversized wine glass at Slates in Hallowell.
Appearance: Pours a clear amber-brown with a short head that is gone quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Faint smoke, some bread, a tiny bit of dark fruit. Malt presence is there. Minimal hops.
Taste: Smokier on the palate than the nose. This beer has a nice smokey, malty flavor that appeals to me.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied at most.
Overall: Nice interpretation of the style. Would have more from this brewery.

Had a pint on tap at Sarah's Cafe in Wiscasset.
A: Leather brown. Wispy thin head.
S: Overpowering malt. Very faint smoke smell
T: Heavy on malt, with some nutty flavor.
M: Light body with subtle carbonation.
O: Fine for a while, but the malty flavor starts to overpower. Not much else going on here.

On tap at the Great Lost Bear. Sourish spicy flaour. Cloudy red with a significant head. A tad of hop aroma. They said this is how it tastes,it came recommended by patrons, and that is only something I would if really pressed, and even then I cannot finish a glass.Mouthfeel is blah.
