Dark amber and nearly clear. Small head that recedes to rim bubbles. Little lace.

Mild, dark, sour cherry aroma. Surprisingly mild smell.

Starts with a neutral "brown ale" base. Lip smacking tartness on the finish. This reminds me of the Flemish red ales. The body is light with a neutral effervescence, like the style predicts. Long aftertaste of dark, tart cherries.

Delightful tart. Rich dark sour cherries with wood. Very well balanced flavors. Pours a beautiful dark garnet color and begins with a decent head. The real thing. Don't miss this.

First had: on tap at the brewery

I think I can safely say this was the best beer I sampled at Burley Oak. Deep ruddy brown pour, seemed fairly hazy in the darker light of the room, a small wispy head receded to a ringlet; minimal lacing if any at all. Aroma of tart cherries and some lacto sourness, with hints of acetic acid and bready malt sweetness. Taste of natural cherry and cherry candy, about middle of the road on the sourness scale, with some fruity sweetness coming in as well, crisp, with a non-offensive hint of vinegar, wet grass, vague traces of toffee-like malts. Surprisingly tasty. Medium body, nice drinkability. Very good overall.

64 oz growler was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: A one finger pink head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is an amber copper color with good clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Fruity, bready, raspberries, cherries, and oak.

Taste: Tart, funky, sour, chewy, dark red fruit, some sweetness, and oak.

Mouthfeel: A little tart, pucker, some chewiness, refreshing, light bodied, and medium carbonation.

Overall: An enjoyable Flemish red. I need to go to MD again.

32 oz growler poured into a tulip

A- A muddy deep ruby red/brown with a small off-white head.

S- Sour, tart cherries, lacto, hint of vinegar.

T- Tart cherries, lacto in the finish, some toffee malts.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A nicely done sour, happy I was able to get a growler. Worth giving it a try if you can find.
