Appearance: Crystal clear and golden yellow slightly darker than a jug of canola oil. With a huge 3 finger head of very chunky white foam (maybe I poured a bit too aggressively but not any more so than I poured Driftwood’s Sartori). It’s dissipation is moderate and as it recedes leaves behind very small patches of lace unless you have a small glass, by my third pour of my bomber I had a very nice curtain going.

Aromatics: Compared to the few other fresh hops I have had this year, this one has a stronger nose than most. Its full of fresh sweet grasses and a good hit of piney hop juice, some light hibiscus florals with light honey there is some citrus hiding behind the fresh green pasture but it is subtle.

Taste: Sweet pine resin with a slightly walnut meal start. The earthy bitter also has a bit of sweetness to it, and is extremely well handled by the barley, and there is slight earthy liquorice-like lingering aftertaste. As far as fresh hops go, this one I think is fairly straight forward, not necessarily simple, but to the point. Its about the fresh hops and that shows through in abundance which means though that it does seem to be absent of other flavour characteristics that could make it standout a bit amongst its peers.

Feel: Though the carbonation is on the weaker side, the light foamy surface the only real indication that bubbles are somehow making it to the surface, on the palate its fresh but smooth, just enough bubbles to keep it away from crisp. It’s a decent middleweight, not really leaning to one side or the other, and the citrus peel bitter finds a home across the whole of the palate, like that big dog that decides your bed is his bed for the night and just won’t get off. And and ever so subtle hint of the 6.5% creeps in every once in a while, I only noticed it when I inadvertently had a big yawn during the finish and could feel it’s presence - if you are breathing normally though I’m not sure you’d recognize it was there.

Overall: Looks fabulous! I’m really starting to prefer the fresh hop option out there over their more traditional IPA cousins. The hops provide a wonderfully fresh and juicy aesthetic that always seems to lack with dried hops varieties. this was extremely delicious, and I wish fresh hoppers became more available closer to Summer, they would be amazing as a hot sun on the patio day.

Pairing : This is another juicy and sweet to bitter beer where the bitter is fairly well controlled. so its sweeter flavours are the ones I want to try to compliment. I want to try a version of chicken parmesan with sundried tomatoes and garlic pepper. Kick it up a notch - add a pinch of crushed red chilies or use a fresh arrabiata instead of marinara. That extra heat will really pronounce the sweetness in the beer.

Great label. Picked up this seasonal beer at the BC Liquor Store at Kingsgate Mall.

A: Clear gold with fluffy white head. Head doesn't dissipate quickly.
S: Pine and citrus hops.
T: Mild to moderate bitterness for an IPA. Piney.

Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with minimal white head that disappears quickly. There is a lot of citrus and piney notes on the nose along with a bit of honey and pale malts. That pine comes through on the taste along with unripened tropical fruit, caramel and white bread. The mouthfeel is in the medium range with a slight lingering bitterness that coats the inside our your mouth.

Nice IPA could use a few more hops for my taste but very nice. Could drink it all day long.
