A: About one finger of white head builds up on top of a brown-orange body that is slightly hazy. It's darker than the Farmhouse Pumpkin, which I had just a few hours prior, but generally looks the same. The bubbles don't raise up any faster in this one than they did before, either. 3.5

S: The aroma is extremely sweet, as most all of the spices seem to have been left behind in the barrel. It's mostly rum, but there is some pumpkin lingering underneath. I'm worried about how boozy this might taste. 3

T: My fears of booziness were well placed as Rum Pumpkin knocks you over the face with it. The taste starts out with rum, gives you some rum in the middles, blends in a slight amount of pumpkin, and then finishes with booze. The only spices that hang around were probably imparted from the rum barrel, as they seem to have a completely different complexity than was highlighted in the Farmhouse Pumpkin. The sweetness takes the stage here, vice the spices before, which isn't bad. I'm just not sure that this is balanced enough to stand up to its already unbalanced base. 2.5

MF: The taste is light and just as undercarbonated as its base beer. The aftertaste is all rum, so if you like rum then you're good to go. But otherwise, you probably should stay far away. The boozy finish makes it tough to finish the glass that I have. 2

Value: Again, the release of this bottling went off without a hook. At $15 per 750ml bottle, it's a bit pricey. But, with the track record of Hardywood it's always worth it. 4

O: I was disappointed in this one more than the Farmhouse Pumpkin. It's not a bad beer, but it certainly isn't one I plan to buy another of. I think that this spent too much time in the barrels, as the tastes that I enjoyed in the base beer are all gone. 2.5

Had it on release night and then bought some bottles to try at home. Some lacing, very good to smell, sweet aftertaste. Almost caramelized. Very satisfying full body. Definitely rum infused. Very solid and very very good beer.

Nice overall pumpkin flavor with a mixture of Apple sauce, anise, nutmeg and rum. It's no Avery Rumpkin, but it's very nicely done and worth drinking again.

The beer pours a fairly light and white head that dissipates quickly while the beer itself is a clear palish medium amber. The beer has a very nice copper hue that is fairly appealing and isn't as dark as other pumpkin ales.

The smell is pretty good with strong pumpkin notes and spices as well as a light sugary smell. The spices include bits of cinnamon and clove, which are both helped along by the rum that gives it a nice sweet brown sugar smell. The smell is extremely well balanced and well crafted to the point where the notes do not compete with each other but cooperate.

The taste is pretty good with a nice balance to it. In addition to the notes found in the smell, the beer also has a slighty bitter hop finish to it. The rum also comes out a bit stronger.

The feel is pretty good. The rum gives the beer a very smooth feel and the light carbonation gives a bit more texture to distinguish it from rum. The beer has a medium body but it does not feel like it.

Overall, a pretty good beer. This one was definitely worth the price of admission and I highly recommend it. The beer isn't overly heavy or pumpkiny or spicey, which is what you might find in other beers. This seems to be a very nicely balanced beer that you can get behind.
