2015 release

Appearance: Pours jet black, with a one inch beige head; splashy lacing is left all around

Smell: Chocolate, roast and oak, with a touch of raspberry puree; underwhelming

Taste: Chocolate forward, with some roast underneath; through the middle the raspberry puree flavor emerges but it is rather indistinct; after the swallow, the Bourbon appears, but it is also very subtle

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Perhaps this is a beer that must be consumed fresh, but I have had Lindley Park bottles over the years with one or two years of age on them that had a lot more raspberry flavor than this; the mouthfeel is also surprisingly thin for a 12%+ stout

Thanks, jonnyybp, for the opportunity

A - Pours a dark brown with a reddish tint. Small tan head that disappears quickly.
S - Aroma is big chocolate and raspberry.
T - Flavor follows the nose with a bit of bourbon thrown in. Don't get any vanilla.
M - Low carbonation. Thin mouth feel for a stout. Flavor lasts a long time.
O - This is an excellent desert beer. Like a mouthful of chocolate covered raspberries.

L: pours brown with a film of head but looks black in the glass
S: smells sweet, sugary raspberry, dark chocolate, and very slight bourbon
T: wow, suprises me. I like this! I get the bourbon mixed with chocolate and raspberries. Think bourbon soaked chocolate covered raspberries. Very nice
F: it's thin for 12.4%, very drinkable, smooth, hard to believe this is 12.4%.

This is pretty tasty, but the format makes it a little overwhelming. It's not terribly sweet, but the raspberry does overwhelm a bit... Would like to have a little more bourbon and vanilla, but it's not bad.

Definitely share this one with friends!

Growler pour in a snifter, the beer is jet black, with a foamy, creamy, light tan head. Aromas of tart raspberry, subtle bourbon, rich chocolate, and subtle woody notes. Flavors are rich chocolate and tart raspberry forward, followed by subtle bourbon spice and vanilla, hints of coffee, and a slow building warmth. Smooth, rich, and creamy feel. The aftertaste is chocolate and raspberry, with some subtle bourbon notes lingering on past the smooth, slick, heavy finish. Good beer.
