Not feeling this one. Artificial cocoa flavors/feel. Not liking the cinnamon aspect either.

2023 vintage

I fully intended on opening this one on Christmas morning, but it totally slipped my mind. I forgot I even had it until I saw it in my fridge just now. It sounds like a fun blend of spices for a barrel aged Stout. Let’s pop it open and find out what it’s all about

Pours a very dark brown with a finger of creamy dark tan head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves decent lacing

Holy hell this is an absolute ginger bomb in the nose. I’m picking up on aromas of candied ginger, dark chocolate, nutmeg, earthy cinnamon, toasted oak, sweet honey, vanilla bean, sweet bourbon, and light molasses

It has a bit more balance in taste but this is still primarily a ginger affair. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting cooked ginger, milk chocolate, vanilla bean, smooth oak, sweet whiskey, earthy cinnamon, medium roast coffee, and burnt caramel. The swallow brings notes of candied ginger, milk chocolate, raisin, vanilla bean, medium roast coffee, burnt caramel, toasted oak, honey, and light leafy hops

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes mostly dry and spicy

This one is aggressively spiced, but damn good despite that

A-Wow. Completely opaque, dark motor oil, creamy espresso head.

S-Also wow. Christmas ginger spice hits up front, with some smooth espresso coming in after. Nutmeg and allspice. Amazing

T-The bourbon comes through here, in a great way, with the spices coming through in the finish in a big way. This is like a gingerbread cookie dunked in eagle rare

M-delightfully spicy and rich

O- this is simply outstanding

L - Black with mahogany highlights with a tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly, leaving behind a thin cap and some lacing
S - complex - Oak, ginger, roasted coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, sweet bourbon
T - Follows the nose: Dark chocolate and roasted dark malt up front and throughout intermixed well with bitter roasted coffee, sweet bourbon, vanilla - finished with warm ginger, cinnamon, and oak.
F - full bodied with light carbonation. Smooth
O - The ginger and cinnamon really do this one a ton in terms of making it stand out from other BBA stouts. This one is very well done

A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown + dark chestnut brown + dark amber colored highlights. The beer has a finger thick creamy foamy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of very thin film covering approximately 85% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate amounts of lactose + honey sweetness. Moderate aromas of toasted oak + vanilla + bourbon. There are moderate aromas of freshly brewed medium roast coffee as well as vanilla + ginger + cinnamon. Just a hint of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel malts with moderate amounts of lactose + honey sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of freshly brewed medium roast coffee as well as vanilla + ginger + cinnamon. Next there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of toasted oak + vanilla + bourbon. Finally there are hints of earthy hops which contribute a light amount of bitterness along with the roasty bitterness which slowly fades away leaving light lingering bourbon flavors.

M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Soft and creamy with a light amount of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly full + creamy mouthfeel. Very enjoyable with gingerbread + coffee + bourbon barrel flavors and aromas. Nice sipping beer for a winter evening.

Saw people drinking this on Christmas morning for years here, so I always jump at the chance to get it on Tavour. Rating it while cold, so may change ratings as it warms. Average stout pour-minimal carbonation. It’s all about the flavor here. Nose and tongue both get a strong balanced attack of sweet and spicy. Medium bodied, barrel presence is subtle, and well composed. Just an excellent beer!

Pours deep black Aroma is very holidays & nice balance of cinnamon, chocolate, ginger, bourbon, coffee with a hint of vanilla. Taste is wonderful & dutifully follows nose -- cinnamon is dominant with ginger, coffee, chocolate and bourbon. Very Gingerbread. Feel is medium and perfect for this stout.

2022 vintage. Drank 7/20/2023.
Pour is black with a quickly fading deep khaki head.
Nose is a nice blend of cinnamon, ginger, coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, very subtle bourbon
Taste follows. cinnamon, ginger, layered over a base of coffee, dark chocolate, with a subtle bourbon on the finish.
body is smooth, moderately creamy
Overall, a very nice and enjoyable beer. Great example of a 'gingerbread' beer. Everything is balanced nicely, and none of the 'gingerbread' spices dominate.

12 ounce bottle into a snifter. 2022 edition, had 5/20/23.

Pours a mostly opaque dark brown, with no head and a few specks of cling. Aromas of ginger, coffee, malt, cinnamon, light chocolate and vanilla, a little bourbon. Flavors of ginger, coffee, malt, cinnamon, light bourbon and vanilla, a little sweetness- maybe from the honey. A good but thinner fuller body, appropriately carbonated.

The coffee addition to GBS is nice, and all the add- ins but the honey show well. It’s a little thin, like most of the BA GBS series are. Very nice.
