Style: Fruit / Vegetable Beer

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.80%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
A Belgian wheat beer brewed with a touch of rye and a massive addition (over 1,000 lbs. per 40-barrel batch) of plump, ripe blackberries grown by Agriberry in Hanover County, Hardywood Virginia Blackberry offers an assertive fruit character while remaining extremely refreshing. Ruby hued with the bright aroma of fresh bramble berries, this beer’s pleasantly gentle body leads to a rather dry, rounded fruit finish, making it irresistible on a hot summer day.

Pours a hazy orange color with some light blackberry hues to it , can see a few blackberry seeds floating around. Thumb sized white head again with blackberry hues too it, falls pretty quick with some lace.

Aroma is nice bready wheat mixture with noticeable blackberry aroma touches of witbier spices. Nose is nice enough good blackberry notes good use little more spice kick though.

Taste is like the nose good bready malts with wheat notes, plenty of fruity blackberry some light spice and lingering blackberry in the finish. Again as the nose flavor could use more spice kick or perhaps the blackberry is covering it.

Mouthfeel is nice lighter side of medium with nice fairly peppy carbonation but seems to fit this brew.

Overall a great fruit beer, but perhaps I am being harsher thought it was a Witbier with lots of blackberries added. Judging on plain fruit brew say its 4.25 its tasty but as I see it needs more white beer spices so more a 3.8 either way I would have this again as I love me some blackberries.

Hazy , muddy, yellow-brown with very light scattered head.
Smells wheaty and slightly lactic. There is a trace of fruit, but less than anticipated.
Tastes fizzy and light, with only the faintest tartness. Some nice fruit on the endtaste seems woefully inadequate for the one ton of berries allegedly added. Mild spice (coriander?) is refreshing. And welcome to add some effort at complexity.
A fine, light, Belgian-y witbier, a la fancy Blue Moon, but not a fruit beer in any meaningful flavor sense.

Hazy hazy sunset colored brew. Little head - almost concerningly so. Overly, poor start.

More wheat than blackberry in the smell. not helping this start, but do love blackberries, so taste may make up for this.

Certainly fruitiness comes across in the flavors, blackberries that may have been mistaken from cherries had I not known. Toasted rye bread, and very dry. Short finish.

Strong carbonation.

Overall a miss. Might have preferred a blackberry. Might have preferred a saison or something that might have made the blackberries the star.

Bottle to mug, the appearance was a burnt orange to copper color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that glistened and fell off at a moderate pace. Soft sticky lace ended up sliding nicely.
The aroma had some ripe sweet and tart blackberries coating a light sweet wheat and a hint of rye.
The flavor accompanies the sweet to the tart and shakes in a little bit of the spice from the rye. Smooth semi-sweet aftertaste of the blackberry and rye.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. Rye spice doesn't impart any distracting harshness and only seemed to meld with the tartness of the overall "feel."
Overall, pretty nice fruit beer and cool idea to add a little rye to make it a tad more interesting.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a cloudy texture. There was an inch or so of creamy / fizzy, fairly long-lasting head. A lot of lacing for a fruit beer.

S: A decent, if slightly underwhelming, aroma of blackberries, wheat, and a funky quality.

T: Tasted of a mild amount of malt, a good shot of wheat, some blackberries (not quite enough), a yeasty, Belgian funk, some light spice notes, and a hint of citrus. A solid enough flavor that isn't quite as powerful as it should be. Still, not a bad taste.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a mostly smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An uneven beer - especially where the flavor is concerned - but one that is still drinkable.

I picked this bomber up at Hardywood.
A - Pours a mostly clear amber color with a small white head.
S - Aroma is blackberry jelly.
T - Bready with just the right amount of berry. Mild tartness.
M - Medium carbonation and mouth feel.
O - I really enjoyed this beer. I was afraid it would be too sweet and jammy but that was not the case. Just the right balance. Wish I had purchased a couple more.
