Hardywood Park Craft Brewery "Bourbon Sidamo"
$7 / pint on tap @ Lynnhaven Pub, Virginia Beach, VA on 19 June 2017
Notes: Black body beneath a tan head that unfortunately displays limited retention and leaves only spotty lacing (possible dirty bar glass?). The aroma expresses sweet dark chocolate and fresh coffee with just a hint of alcohol but that doesn't carry over into the flavor. The flavor is fuller and quite rich with additional notes of golden and dark caramel, milk chocolate, and an apple-like fruitiness but I don't find much Bourbon or oak at all. Medium bodied with a bristling carbonation. I'm a little lost as I've never had the Sidamo to compare it to, but I'm guessing it's very similar as the Bourbon and oak seem to be very limited. It's not disappointing, but neither is it inspiring.

Pours pitch black with a 3 finger tan head.
Smells of bourbon, vanilla and oak. Milk chocolate more than dark. Coffee, and maybe a hint of blueberry, but I wouldn't have guessed it if I hadn't known.
Taste of sweet milk chocolate/creamy coffee. Blueberry is more evident here.
Feel is rather full. It has a bite, but it's more alcohol than carbonation. Creamy, syrupy, and very retentive.
A great beer! Rich, creamy. flavorful and aromatic. Decadent!

Dark beer with sudsy mocha head. Dark chocolate note. Flavors of Tootsie Roll chocolate, rich vanilla bourbon, powdered chocolate milk mix. Not boozy at all.
