I crack the tab on the cold can of pils and pour into a pint glass, at an angle of course. A dense, foamy head appears and erupts over the edge. I quickly sip the overflowing head, trying to mitigate the spill. I am greeted with a bready taste, herbal, grainy aroma and a clean dry finish. Before I notice, half the contents of the glass are gone. I don't think I've tasted a Pilsner like this before. This has something extra, a je ne sais quoi. I like it a lot.

A: Pours a brilliantly clear straw/yellow color. A dense white head forms and rises to two fingers. The foam sticks around as a cap throughout with lace all the way down the glass.
S: Floral, grassy, spicy hops are soft, but up front. Some biscuit malt rounds everything out. With the European hops this has a fantastic balance.
T: Like the nose, spicy and floral hops are up front and great. An almost peppery like character, with a big biscuit and cereal grainy/cracker malt flavor lingering. Light bitterness that fits the style. Everything is very soft and I love it. Reminds me of Weihenstephaner Pilsner.
M/O: A light body that is perfectly effervescent. So crisp, ultra clean and supper dry. Something I enjoy drinking more and more of with each gulp. Best enjoyed in bulk and large gulps. Incredible.

Maybe a shade below Live Oak Pils, but that is a tall order. A fantastic Pilsener, and will be a staple in my fridge. This helps fill the void since Houston won't be getting any Live Oak cans for a while. Really well done and highly recommended.

12 oz. can poured into pilsener
(canned on 1/19/16)

L: crystal clear yellow, pushes up a thick marshmellowy white head of foam, about 1-inch tall that sticks nicely; lots of activity in the glass, keeps a thick white collar and most of a skin; beautiful brew; some lacing ... the foam that sticks and laces is big clumpy clouds, very cool

S: sour grain, corn ... as it warms, a slight floral note pops up; just a hint of bread malt

T: grain ... big sweet grain flavor up front, immediately a cracker-malt flavor takes over with a ton of sweetness ... has a bitter-hop bite mostly earthy, maybe a bit of black pepper; some sour grain but the sweet cracker-malt aftertaste allows appears right on time

F: fantastic ... light and crisp, easy-drinking, just enough weight to keep it from being watery

O: this one is growing on me more and more as I work through the six-pack, and I liked it fine to begin with; it came off a bit too much like Karbach's Love Street kolsch at first, but the more I drink it, the more the sweet cracker-malt hits home, and the earthy/spicy hop bite is nice, a great balancing agent; it's a good beer, good enough that I'll likely rummage through another sixer or maybe one of them 12-packs

A: Bright, clear gold with a large, airy head.
S: Very nice aroma of light malt, sweet, and a big German hop scent, floral and lightly earthy. Top notch!
T: Initial taste is a light bitterness--not on the high end of the style, but quite present, with a nice malt underpinning, hardly grainy at all. Hop flavor is quite big, even if the bitterness is not, making for a very quaffable beer. Finish is dry.
M: Light bodied, of course, good carbonation levels.
O: This is probably the best single beer I've had from Karbach, which really gets the pils style dead on. Very drinkable!

Just saw this at the grocery store - had to try! Poured a beautiful yellow from a can. Thin head but great lacing. Nice floral smell. Crisp bready, spicy taste. Light and refreshing. Nice pils!

Nice straw color is clear and bright. Looks like a pils. Unfortunately, I find little that is German-tasting in this beer. The whole idea of inventing lager beers was to make a cleaner, less yeasty tasting beer. This beer is overpowered by bready, yeasty flavors and has very little of the floral hops advertised on the can. Could actually pass for a blonde ale as easily as a pils. And it ain't cheap so it will be my last Zee.

Poured into a pint glass. Pours a decently carbonated and slightly murky straw color with a two finger head that dissipates slowly and leaves a small ring of lacing. Aroma of bread of spicy hops. Taste follows the nose with a solid bread-ey malt, spicy hops, and super subtle citrus. Medium-light body and medium carbonation with a clean finish.
Solid pils that that is refreshing and easy to drink. It definitely follows the style and isn't too watered down. More hops wouldn't have hurt, but it was a stable 6er I would buy again.

Another krappy Karbach. As much as I want to support a local brewer, they never fail to underwhelm. This entry is the latest of a long line of flavorless brews. I grew up on pilseners, a fine pilsener is a thing of beauty. However, this pils is downright ugly. Advice to Karbach, next time, don't be so stingy with the hops.

Thin but lasting head, light gold color. Aroma is grainy, grassy and spicy. Flavor is clean, crisp, mild and balanced. A very low key but tasty little pils.
