poured from a 22oz bomber into a half pint glass. pours pitch black with less than a finger of mocha brown foam head. light barrel and hops on the nose as well as chocolate even some raisins. taste follows. creamy chocolate up front with light dark fruits and even lighter pine. medium-full mouthfeel. this is a bottle that got lost / forgotten in the move a couple years ago but was already a couple years old at the time. it’s held up well. i have no idea what this was like fresh but it’s drinking great right now.

Type: 10-oz. draft
Glass: 10-oz. clear tulip-like glass
From: The Common Table in Frisco, Texas
Price: $7
Purchased: Dec. 15, 2018
Consumed: Dec. 15, 2018
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial Stout
Misc.: Quick review; Later realized Karbach is #CraftAdjace
#CraftAdjace
One beer of many at The Common Table, which was near where I was staying (The Omni) on a recent work trip in Frisco, Texas. Went with the 10-oz. option for the majority of my reviews. Had never heard of Karbach and, unfortunately, later figured out that they are owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev and therefore not craft beer (#CraftAdjace). Was bummed as there was a barleywine (#BiL) that I was going to try later. Was labeled as an “Imperial stout aged in Jack Daniels barrels released January 2017.”
Poured a pitch black color with two fingers of dark tan frothy head. Calm setting underneath. World-class spiderweb lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled smooth Jack Daniels (never thought I would say that), woody oak, toffee, caramel, milk chocolate and cocoa powder. (Smell - 4.25)
Wow. The taste followed the nose nicely. Oaky wood, smoothish Jack Daniels, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa powder and dark fruit. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Liked this a lot and may have underrated it just a bit. Too bad this is #CraftAdjace. (Overall - 4.25)

Bottled in 2016
22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours a deep black color with a one-finger creamy khaki colored head that has great retention long after the pour
S- aroma opens with bold notes of dark chocolate and tootsie roll, along with some charred malt. Undertones of whiskey barrel follow, adding notes of caramel and light vanilla
T- dark roasted malt give a combination of dark chocolate, fig and raisin. Mid-palate brings out the JD barrel, it's subtle but definitely noticeable and adds some oak and caramel. The finish lingers of whiskey and chocolate malt
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns a bit creamy into a slightly warming finish
O- solid BA stout with a nice chocolate notes that compliments the barrel
