Appearance: slightly hazy, pineapple-gold body, almost pure white head with good retention - getting the impressions of pina colada when couple with the aroma

Aroma: big citrus aroma; bright lemon, orange - sweet and bitter elements; some more exotic fruit as well, pineapple, mango

Taste & Mouthfeel: vigorously refreshing citrus and malt open things up, very clean tasting - swear I'm getting a sense of high quality water, it's so pure - transitioning to a bitter, dry finish that isn't too heavy on the astringent bitters, it maintains some fruitiness; medium body and great carbonation.

Overall a fantastic refreshing feel and flavour, like a good pilsner given a liberal does of citrus hops

Bottle at Volo. Citric white wine aromas. Light coloured yet thick body, with some retained head. Grows on me, decent drinkability, though some off bandaid. Complex, hop oils still there significantly after two months. Above average mouthfeel. A different entrant to the market, mostly owing to the Nelson Sauvin hops.

Purchased at the LCBO for around $6.00 or so for a 650ml bottle. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a slight head that stays for a while. Unfiltered and golden good

S- A bit lacking here. Familiar warrior hops present. Dry hopped slightly but still low on the IBU's

T- Ok. Hops are ok. Nothing special here.

M- Dry and good.

O- Pretty good. Nothing special but still good. Dry and open bodied. Not complex at all.

Food Pairing

This pretty good IPA went well with... BBQ hamburgers! Top 'em the way you like 'em

A - Cloudy medium yellow colour with a thin layer of white head.

S - Big barrel notes. Toasted oak, sweet bread, fruit eaters and a light funk.

T - Huge oak flavour. Some caramel, bread and a touch of spice. Fruit esters present throughout.

M - Medium body. Dry. Light carbonation.

Slightly hazy golden honey colour. Half inch of white head quickly gone to a slick. Only a couple bubbles of carbonation. Bit of lacing with no retention. Not a great look.

Bright citrus aroma. Mixture of orange, lemon and grapefruit. With a nice Belgian yeast aroma.

Complex taste that comes in 4 waves. Belgian yeast taste. Sweet malt. Bitter citrus. Tart chaulky bitter aftertaste. The 9 % alcohol is not too strong and adds to the flavour mix.

Medium to heavy feel with a malty coating.

Excellent taste. Well made. Lack of head and carbonation prevents this from being a real winner. I will search for this one again.

Spring seasonal, a Belgian golden ale with additional hopping, using New Zealand hops such as Nelson Sauvin.

Murky golden, nice lacing, radiant colour. Nose is quite grainy, some floral esters, coriander and other spicing. Not much hop presence.

Wishing for more hop balance here, a hint of the Nelson, a light to moderate bitterness and drying in the finish, sweetness through the middle, typical BPA grains and spicing, spicing comes through evidently. Sweet without cloying, quite a drinkable feel to it. ABV is hidden, quite a straightforward but nice brew, just wishing for a little more jazz from the hops - always thought Nelson went so well with a BPA/BIPA. Good but not great.

Bomber picked up at the LCBO; listed at 9% with no freshness info provided. It's not every day that a new Belgian-style IPA pops up locally, and I very much enjoyed this brewery's Lone Pine IPA, so grabbing this bottle seemed like a safe bet. Served well-chilled.

Pours a hazy golden-amber colour, topped with one finger of frothy white foam that proceeds to shrink away steadily. In the end, a filmy cap, narrow collar and a beautiful ring of lace remain behind. Lovely aroma; very floral and fruity, with notes of citrusy orange, bready malt sweetness, floral hops and a touch of yeast. Kind of a 'wet pine forest' vibe going on; not the most aromatic BIPA I've ever had but I'm still liking it.

The hops really take control of this one's flavour, providing a powerful astringency that ranges from the usual suspects, such as orange/lemon citrus and earthy pine resin, right up to some intensely floral, unusually cat-spray-like notes toward the finish. The malt backbone is grainy, with some wheat malt sweetness occasionally peeking through the more-dominant hop aspects. It finishes with a touch of grapefruit peel astringency and some apricot flavour; the former lingers briefly on the palate, drying it out. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that provide a decent bite, comparable to that of most standard IPAs. The alcohol is nowhere to be seen, making this easier to drink quickly than it probably should be.

Final Grade: 3.94, a worthwhile B+. The Princess Wears Girl Pants is an interesting beer, with a nice mix of assertive North American hop notes and mellower Belgian ale ones. This brew should sit well with the majority of hopheads - but those of you seeking out a hopped ale with a solid malt base/Belgian yeast characteristics may be a little disappointed with this one. The pilsner and wheat malt used do not provide enough 'oomph' to counter the aggressive hop bill, at least in this reviewer's humble opinion, but this is still a delicious beer that is well worth at least one try. A great beer to crack open on a hot Canada Day afternoon - cheers, fellow Canucks, and enjoy your well-earned holiday!

An interesting saison brew from Sawdust City. The incredible Galaxy and Amarillo hops are prevalent. Ella hops are also added giving a distictive taste. Very boozy. Canned from the LCBO.

A-Murky yellow with a white head
S-No much aroma that I can detect
M-I am not a fan of the higher carbonation as it add a spice
T-Too floral for me, not enough bitterness
O-Interesting beer. I am not a fan of Belgium brews and the IPUs are low for my taste.
