On tap in Atlanta.

Smooth, medium body with medium carbonation.

Near black body with a bubbly beige head that has poor retention.

Moderate strength but an exceptionally clear chocolate aspect in the finish. Slight sour note.

Medium body and carbonation.

Overall: chocolaty.

Poured from 32 oz crowler into snifter.

A: Dark black with 2-3 finger dense tan head with crazy long retention and leaving lots of lacing.

S: Cocoa powder, vanilla, and light bourbon. Aroma is a little subtle and restrained.

T: Dark cocoa nibs, roasted malts with a touch of vanilla, bourbon, and oak.

M: Medium body with a silky smooth and creamy mouthfeel.

O: Very nice chocolate porter. Easy drinking with an excellent flavor profile.

This was a firkin of the Chocolate Porter that had been aged on oak & hickory. On cask at The Freight (Woodstock, GA). Served in a snifter.

Pours near black with virtually no head, just a tan ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass that never laced. It may not sound like it, but it looked very inviting.

Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla & wood. There was something else I couldn't quite identify that kind of held the aroma back.

I've had the base beer at the brewery & enjoyed it but this was so much more. Nice smooth sweet malts, bakers chocolate, vanilla, woodsy goodness. It had one of the best blends of beer & wood aging that I've tried to-date.

Pleasant, smooth, medium feel. Next to no carbonation but with a good sweet tongue-coating velvety texture.

Too bad Red Hare is too young to be bottling (or, as is their plans, canning). This stuff is great & needs to be shared. This was a special firkin blend of a one-off seasonal so it'll be a while before I can have it again (IF Roger & Bobby even decide to brew it again). If you like sweet porters & see this at a bar around Atlanta, give it a try.
