Visited about a year ago and the memory is vivid and great!
Out of town on a business trip. Was just starting to learn about craft. Had no idea places like this even existed. I was overwhelmed at the number of taps.
Got to sample some varieties, which was awesome, and also a first for me.
Really got turned on to IPA's through a couple visits.
One of the recommendations was a Stone Enjoy By Tangerine. Sampled it, purchased it, and will never forget that awesome experience!
Staff was eager to entertain my novice questions and didn't make me feel unwelcome due to my lack of experience. Was impressed that they purged the lines to make sure I had a fresh pour and also impressed that they cleaned my growlers.
Overall great experience that really helped develop my love for craft!

Very bland place overall, not terrible selection but the only thing I couldn't get in South Carolina was Creature Comforts, which unfortunately I just came from their brewery so I ended up leaving empty handed from this brewery. In one lap around the store not a single employee asked me if I needed anything. Probably a good store if you know exactly what you're looking for, but I was not impressed.

In the same parking lot as the 5 Points Bottle Shop, this is a plethora of tap-handles ready to fill any growler available. They have glass to sell in 32oz, 64oz, and 128oz versions, as well as the Euro swing-top style. There had to have been about 30 taps available. Lots of local stuff, as well as some imports and others from around the country. The attendant is very helpful and knowledgeable. As many people have stated here previously, some of the beers are cheaper in 6-pack/bottle format. However, there are some beers available that you aren't going to get to go any other way than a growler (specifically Creature Comforts). The store is worth a stop, and so is the fill station.

Always a good selection -- sometimes beers you would not get in other places. Do the math, though. Sometimes it is cheaper to go into the bottle shop next door and buy a sixer.

Service is always good. They always answer questions, or you could just read the notebook.

Like the other reviewer said, it's the same shop as 5 Points Bottle Shop, but just across the parking lot for legal reasons.

Best growler selection I've come across. It can run a bit pricey, but it's high quality beer, so I think it's worth it most of the time. Plus you get 10, 8, or 6% off if you go on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, respectively. Also a punch card for $10 off you're 11th growler. They also let you swap sizes of growlers if you have one of theirs.

Staff is incredibly friendly. One even let my buddy who was visiting borrow a growler for the weekend. They know their stuff and will always tell you about what they have. Very nice people.

Stopping by the Royal Peasant next door for some shepherd's pie is always a good idea, too.

5 Growlers is the growler section of 5 Points Bottle Shop. By GA law, you cannot sell growlers in the same store where you sell liquor, hence the separate store. Very small space, just a little shop with room for a growler bar and nothing else. But what a selection! 43 taps, 2 ciders and 3 wines.

Liefmans, Heavy Seas Winter Storm, Wild Heaven Ode to Mercy, 8Wired, Founders Breakfast, Duck Rabbit, Lagunitas Sucks, Mother Earth Sisters of the Moon, Des Rocs 2009 Grand Cru, Southern Tier Oat and Pumpking, Terrapin of courseā€¦

Great service by a friendly beer nerd and very cool growlers- I got a limited-edition 32-oz blue one, neat stuff. They also sell quart-size mini growlers. Quart! Athens is lucky to have this and so many other beer joints.
