The beer is a dark brown and a a thick tan foamy head. This beer had more of a floral, perfume like smell to it followed by hints of alcohol and the malts along with some dark fruits. Also a little bit of spices in there. The beer taste is complex and I feel like it changes with every sip. I get bitterness of dark chocolate, plum, pepper like spices. It is sweet, bitter, tart. I really can't figure it out. The beer is smooth and foamy. Nice full bodies beer.

330ml bottle poured into a snifter.

Dark chestnut brown color, the pour quickly builds up majestic silky light tan head that doesn’t go anywhere until the last sip. It just slowly and slightly dissipates and leaves lots of sticky lacing along the way.

The aroma is led by dark fruit in kind of dark cherry, raisin, prune, and plum. Then it is followed by spiciness of coriander and pepper, also phenol, slightly roasted, anise, caramel, molasses, candy sugar, banana bread, and hint of chocolate.

Complex in the palate sensation with bold dark fruit character (dark cherry, raisin, prune, and plum) and anise, coriander yet peppery spiciness, sourness and tartness of fruity profile disclose slightly thereafter and coat the taste buds for a while until all those sweetness portions of caramel, molasses, candy sugar, sweet dough, and banana bread came in to balance. There is also a hint of chocolate and coffee as well as slight warming alcohol in the undertone. Some hop bitterness discloses at the end together with residual sweetness, spiciness, and fruitiness.

Full body with some bold touch through the palate but it is not that sticky or cloying with low to medium carbonation that is proper to carry all the things well under smooth palate, finish is pleasantly dry.

This one is great example of Belgian Quad. 11% ABV is very well hidden making it so tasty and easy to drink.

Had before, but latest tasting was with a bottle aged just over a year. Much improved. Not quite in the top tier, but a very solid quad. More residual sweetness than most, but a good balance of dried fruits, sticky sweet dark malts, and bready notes.

Poured into a Teku. Cola-brown and hazy. A large, fluffy light tan head. A nice nose with raisins, toffee, caramel, and cherries. The taste diverged a bit, with more earthy, leathery flavors and some tobacco. Less fruit. Some sugary malt and a bit of cocoa. A slightly tart finish. It also finished dry and was medium-bodied. Overall nice but not on par with St. B and others.

An excellent beer, very easy drinking for such a potent brew and certainly up there among my favourites. Not heavy, tart or too creamy, just a real pleasure to quaff. Similar to most decent Christmas beers from Belgium in both strength and finish. Available all year round, and worth making a beeline for if you see it.....coming through!

Dark brown, mostly opaque. Nice head retention. Clean, mild dark fruit aroma. Nice raisin flavor. Not too sweet. Sturdy, medium body. High carbonation. Not too sticky. Alcohol is well hidden. Good stuff.

Look: Super tan, energetic and bubbly head with rounded bubbles that linger, rich mahogany brown body.
Smell: Chocolate and raisn and stonefruits and pear and Belgian sugar
Taste: Syrup and sugar, roasty, spices, dark fruits like raisin and plum, semi noticeable alcohol (bottle states 11%)
Feel: Bubbly, mild carbonation, turns to foam when it hits your palate, oily, high gravity
Overall: Pretty good. I was saving this for a celebration and it went good with Thanksgiving dinner. It got sweeter and fruitier as it warmed up. A good winter season beer for sure.

From the bottle, it pours brown with a moderate head that lasts awhile. Lacing as you drink it. The nose is plum and other fruits, with the mouth revels in the darkish malt and prunes, among other fruits.

This beer poured ruby brown with an enormous fluffy tan head which took seemingly forever to break. When it did break, it left lovely lacing behind. The aroma of the beer was dark fruits, plum, cherry, raisin and prunes, along with what I can only describe as the sweetness of a Belgian quad. The aroma translates well into the flavors of the beer. The dark fruits are strong, a sweetness of treacle is present, and there is a slight booziness as well. The feel is smooth with a medium amount of carbonation, the flavors last a long time, and the finish ends dry. Overall, one of the nicer quads I have had. It reminds me a little of Achel Extra or Kasteel Donker and lands somewhere in the middle. I look forward to enjoying this beer again.
