Had on tap in a taster size tulip glass.

Opaque black with a thin head. Toffee, chocolate, burnt sugar, toasted oak on the nose. Taste has big sweet rummy molasses, semisweet chocolate, oak, vanilla, roasted malt and espresso. I really like the molasses contribution from the rum barrel. Thick but not too thick, ends roasty and kind of dry.

Good stout to start with, and well aged in the rum barrel. Very nice.

Huge head production. Black body, and dark brown head. Retention is very good, as is lacing. Even 30 minutes after the initial pour, there's a fain foam remnant, and lacing remains superb.

Barrel aged notes waft from the pour. Up close, however, it's more of an emphasis on the roastiness. The rum barrel treatment is giving it an edge similar to oxidation, which makes picking out individual tones a touch difficult, but there's the classic oak, burnt coffee, toast, molasses, and perhaps licorice. There's a particular sweetness to the mash you don't get from most whiskey, but beyond that, the rum is incredibly well integrated.

It's thick and chewy, creamy and smooth; there's nothing that reveals the incredibly sky high ABV. Some very slight back-end heat that I'm attributing to the barrel aging - nothing particular or unpleasant. Barrel aged stout mouthfeel doesn't get better than this.

Flavor is sweet and chewy; not a ton of roast, actually, as it's very smooth. Vanilla, caramel and brown sugar, nuts, roast, toast, and a mash sweetness from the barrel.

A fantastic brew, and a nice variant from the already sublime BBA Ten Fidy.

L: Pours a thick onyx and mocha with a thin rusty head
S: Dark chocolate, caramel, molasses, and rum
T: Deliciously complex and rich with notes of fudge, brownie batter, chocolate cake, brown sugar, and vanilla
F: Incredibly thick and lush with ample carb
O: This was an impressive follow up to bourbon barrel aged Ten Fidy for me. The rum barrel provides a unique flavor complexity, but only serves to enhance the delicious base beer. Very well done.

This one pours an impenetrable dark black, like a black hole, with a fluffy mocha colored head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like heavy duty roast and bitter dark chocolate, rum, spicy oak, and coffee.

The roasted grain character in Ten Fidy is just unreal, and that killer aspect of the base is not lost in this variant. It's still huge. There's actually not a ton of rum here, it's definitely a supporting actor. There's more spicy oak here than rum.

This is thick and rich, with a good level of carbonation, and a surprisingly high level of drinkability.

Ten Fidy is both a great beer on it's own, and a beer that is just perfect for really any kind of barrel.

This beer is not for the faint of heart! It pours very dark, smells strong, and tastes even stronger. The rum really hits you in the face with very strong vanilla notes. I absolutely love this beer but I am knocking it a half-point for not being accessible to others.
