On tap at Verdugo Bar in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a clear dark orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Thin streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of roasted malt, char, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, char, and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice balance of roast and hop qualities that come through especially well in the taste.
Serving type: on tap.

16 oz can. Pours dark brown with a big rocky tan head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet roasted caramel malts with a little fruit and piney hops.
The flavor is sweet caramel malt, roast and some piney fruity hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.
Overall, tastes like a decent, but sweet, black IPA. I don't see much difference with it being a lager.

Poured into a Dogfish IPA glass.
A - Very dark amber color. Almost can't see through the glass when held to the light. The glass helps the head be a strong thick tan that I let shrink a bit to be able to pour in the rest. It shrinks with a very nice amount of lacing being left on the glass.
S - Citrusy hops. Not too strong but it's good.
T - Strong pine/grass flavor. I wait a bit and the next taste dark malts now add a roasted characteristic that I didn't get at first. It helps the hop bite not to be too overpowering (for me).
M - Very nice and balanced.
O - Very good beer.
