This one nails all the characteristics you want in a scotch ale, and then some. Wife and I both noticed some extra spice in there that reminded us both of a pumpkin beer. That could be good or bad depending on what you like. Will definitely buy this again.

Murky brown colour. Fruity nose, sticky tree fruits and yeasty. Yeasty and fruity throughout, very light for a scotch ale. Hints of nutty and toasty grains at the end. Bit of a tang on the finish that lingers. Balanced and not too heavy; light to medium bodied.

Great standby. I keep this in my fridge whenever I can get my hands on it.

One of my favorite brews when I want just one with dinner. At 8%abv, you aren't going to drink this all afternoon on a sunny Saturday. But when you want want glass that's really going to do the job, this is the one. Very full bodied, with a strong flavor. It hides the 8% well. Many brews as this strength taste more like beer with 1/2 a short of vodka added, a strong ethanol taste with out enough else going on to compete. This brew is balanced. The maltiness, body, darkness but not to the level of a Stout/Porter, and tang are all raised to the correct amount to maintain balance with the strength of the brew.

Serving: 12 oz can (“canned on 11/21/17”) poured into a 9 oz Libbey Embassy snifter.

Appearance: Deep, clear, mahogany brown with reddish hue, and a short, dense head of bubbly tan foam. Recedes to a nice fringe of suds that deposits streaks of lace.

Smell: Deeply caramelized malt, cocoa powder, dried fruit and pleasant campfire notes. Faintly boozy.

Taste: Rich, sweet and complex malt and dark fruit. Slight smoke and salted caramel. Malt sweetness dominates, with a slight alcoholic burn and mild, earthy and bitter tea hops.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body, slightly oily and sticky, with moderate but soft carbonation.

Overall: Big, boozy malt bomb; warming and satisfying sipper.
