love this latest brewery only can from oskar blues, and again wish some of this cool beer would make it to the market, but it never does. clever name, nice rich coffee profile in the nose, and a hint of very very bitter dark chocolate too, probably coming from nearly burnt barley. it looks nice in the glass, although the head doesnt really hold, the color is dark and shiny, and impenetrable to light, very deep. the smell is all coffee, slightly stale, but very intense and earthy, heavy roast, i like that in the stout, especially this stout, thats not overly complex in its makeup, lets the coffee really drive the experience. in the taste the coffee is thin and stale even more, im missing body out of this, which i find frustrating and confusing given the rich aroma and apparent viscosity on the pour. its also a bit acidic on the coffee side, lingering on the palate too long, and feeling just a little weird in the belly. still though, its a cool use of a cool coffee, and i think the beer stays out of the coffees way for the most part, which we dont see often enough i dont think. definitely a caffeine kick from this one too. nice pint can to share in an after dinner context. they would definitely sell plenty of it if they would put out 4 packs...

On tap at Homemade Liquids and Solids in Longmont; poured into a pint glass.
Appearance - very black, sitting like a shadow in the pint glass. Thin beige head that fades quickly and leaves spotty lacing.
Smell - cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer!
Taste - follows the nose, but a touch watered down.
Feel - medium body with strong cup of coffee feel, but falls light on the finish.

On tap at the Tasty Weasel and served in a pint glass. Nice coffee stout, but I was hoping for more. I had this after a BBA G'Night, so maybe my taste buds had already been overwhelmed. I'll just have to come back and try again.

On tap at the Tasty Weasel taproom. Dark black, tan head. Nice aroma of strong coffee grounds. The flavor was more of the same, decent roasty stout flavor but a nice coffee component. Good stuff.

Great coffee nose, just a hint of sweetness. Mostly rich espresso grinds. The taste doesn't quite match that though, as it's a bit more on the sweet side. Still tasty, just lacking a bit of the aggressive coffee flavor I'm looking for. If you like your coffee on the slightly sweet side though, this is for you. The carb & feel are solid, albeit a bit more "zippy" instead of creamy, which I would also prefer. Slight hint of that ashy character that some coffee stouts produce. All-in-all a very solid beer though.

This could be a little more light on the palette. Kind of on the fence between a big beer or a lighter stout. If they took the carbonation up a bit, it would help.

Just felt a little thin for the nose and taste. I'd happily drink again though.

! PINT can
Served in a snifter

This beer pours black with three inches of mocha head that leaves little lacing.

The aroma is coffee as expected.

The flavor is dominated by coffee as well. The taste has more bitterness of black coffee than the nose led me to believe. Black coffee in the aftertaste.

Full mouthfeel

This is not an in your face coffee stout. You know the coffee is there though. It was definitely a pleasure to get the opportunity to try it.
