Pours a hazy orange-gold with a thin persistent head with good lacing. Fruity smell with some malt. Taste again is fruity on the tongue with a bit of bitterness but the fruit flavor lingers on the lips. Nice mouthfeel with good carbonation. Overall an interesting beer that I certainly wouldn't turn down if offered!

Pours bright yellow with a minor haze, thick foam and sticky lacing. Smells of citrus, hops, lemon grass. The taste is outstanding, I am blown away how crisp this IPA is, so easy to drink and loaded with flavor, tons of hops, nice grapefruit dryness, lemon/lime, some floral. This is a light to medium beer, very easy to drink and great for summer time. One heck of an IPA.

Poured from 12-ounce can into a plastic cup by necessity. Even in this particular vessel, I could tell that the appearance was special. Nice pale golden color, with tons of ling-lasting white head. Aromas of pine resin and tropical fruit, with some light malt in the background. These characteristics are also prominent on the palate. Very well balanced, with lots of pleasant resiny bitterness on the tongue. Dry and bitter finish. Overall, I thought this was spectacular. It's delicious on its own, very drinkable, and makes a great pairing with food. And at 5.8% ABV, it's quite "sessionable" as well. I'm puzzled about the lack of love this one is getting here. Are we drinking the same beer?

What used to be known as the "summer" season has been taken over by the "fruit IPA" season. And even while the pale ale style has continually encroached upon the IPA character, the opposite can be said also. Light in body, lighter in strength and slathered with exotic yuzu and ugli fruits for added succulence and charm.

Fugli pours actually quite nice. Golden in color and capped with a frothy white crown, the lacy beer abounds with those exotic fruits. Citrus, tropical, berry and character seem like fresh pressed juices. Its taste is light of honey, faint caramel and the sweet grain character of graham cracker.

And as the ale really opens up on the middle palate, its fruit flavor blooms. Radiant mandarin orange links up with pineapple, passionfruit and red grapefruit for a combined taste of fruit punch. Yuzu and ugli fruit offers a dragonfruit sweetness with floral and berry-like aspirations. As the bitterness creeps in, the added array of citrus and blueberry trend herbal, grassy, chivy and lightly resinous.

Medium light and bitter to close, the beer's dryness outweighs any fruit sweetness to make this summery beverage a crisp, clean and dangerously drinkable choice. Whatever your final impressions, there's no ugly ducklings here. It's all bright and beautiful from sip to finish.

Clear amber colour. Citrusy and earthy hops, soft tropical fruits, and grapefruit rind nose. Creamy and zesty body at the same time; bitter grapefruit rind pithiness (ugli fruit probably) dominates the flavour profile, well on into the finish and aftertaste. Notes of tropical fruit hops, passion fruit notes, and squishy.

Can poured into glass. Clear golden color, nice head. Slight hint to nose. Light, balanced - could use more fruit. Enjoyable 6/10/17

On tap at the Brevard taproom.
Clear amber body with a durable white head.
Pine and citrus flavors but a danker, more piney aroma.
Near average bitterness for style.
Smooth, slightly oily feel. Medium body with light carbonation.

On tap. Pours a hazy straw color with a one finger head that lingers and leaves 4 inches of lacing. Nose of tropical fruit and citrus. Taste is sweet tropical fruit and citrus from the yuzu and ugli fruit with a slightly piney hop finish. Medium carbonation and medium body.
It's a juicy session IPA that uses yuzu in lieu of grapefruit. It's citrus driven with a little punch of American hops at the end. Clean and enjoyable, the yuzu and ugli fruit come through.

12oz can - man, I have seen the word 'ugli' in crossword puzzles for forever and a day, but this is the first instance of it (even as a partial) in a brew's name for me, I do believe.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with four fingers of puffy, rocky, and chunky off-white head, which leaves some random cartographic pattern lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of prominent tropical fruit (pineapple core, guava, and kiwi peel), dank pine resin, some Pez candy-esque chalkiness, further indistinct citrusy esters, and a generic bready and grainy caramel malt sweetness. The taste is gritty and crackery pale malt, a lesser banal caramel thing, now kind of muddled exotic citrus fruity notes, watery pine forest floor detritus, and more plain leafy, weedy, and musty floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite understated in its bored-seeming frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with a wee aerosol creaminess arising as things warm up a tad. It finishes off-dry, the still hard to discern fruitiness lingering along with the remains of the malt day.

Overall, this is indeed a rather fruit-forward American IPA, yet with a wan sense of the origins, as such. Maybe it's because I really haven't ever had a Caribbean ugli, or a Japanese Yuzu, that I'm so flummoxed and well, eventually uninterested in this offering.

Appearance: Clean amber, with a huge white head and heavy lace.

Aroma: Unusual fruity nose, like a fruit punch almost. Not bad.

Taste: Hoppy but with an odd fruitiness not from hops for a change. Tasty and appealing experimental IPA with a slightly bitter finish. Worth a try.

12 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON: 06/20/[email protected] 11:15 YUZU DRINKAMORA"
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Interesting concept. I've got no idea what these fruits will be like. Hazy golden body beneath a finger thick head of frothy white foam. Aromas of not particularly discernible fruit and candyish sweet malt with a hint of chalkiness. The fruit follows in the flavor - what is that fruit? DUH! I guess it's Yuzu and Ugli. Seriously though I can't compare it to anything other than berries and apples and oranges. It's not bad at all, but it doesn't resonate with me. Moving forward, a solid bitterness backs it and it finishes dry with a lingering bitterness (about 65 IBUs). I keep wishing the fruit was a little sharper but that's just me and has nothing to do with the beer itself. I'm getting a lot of orange now, more than anything else, and a bit of blueberry lingering. Medium bodied and gently crisp then smooth across the palate. Looking back the lacing isn't that great at all, but of course the softer carbonation leads to less head which leads to less lacing which is then a trade-off for the softer mouthfeel which I like, so there. Smelling it now that it's warmed a bit I'm getting something else, almost a kind of woodiness, or perhaps soft spiciness. I'm not sure where that's coming from though. Might be the fruit, might not. Overall it's interesting, and fairly enjoyable, but nothing new really stands out to me and otherwise it's just a kind of regular fruity IPA. Decent but not great.
