This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. It is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops.

Enjoyed out of a 12 oz can from which I forgot to get any dating information before recycling it. That said, I know for a fact this can is from last year (2013), so it's just about a year old at this point. Poured into a large 33 oz snifter glass.
Appearance (4.25) - It's hard to think of any way to describe the look of this beer other than motor oil with about a finger of ecru-colored chocolate mousse resting on top. It's the kind of brown that's so dark that there is no point in even trying to distinguish between the shad and true black. It matches the black on the can. The head is about a finger thick and slowly fades away to leave a film across the surface of the film and flecks of lacing here and there on the sides of the glass.
Smell (4.0) - Initial aromas are all varieties of roasted and toasted malts. Dark notes of burnt toast and char along with some more subtle elements of baker's chocolate and even hints of what reminds me of coffee grounds, but the variety that has been ground awhile ago, leaving them without the distinct coffee bean pungency.
Taste (4.25) - The promises of the smell are all delivered with interest--rich notes of semisweet chocolate and notes of bitter char and roasted grain are again front and present. There are also more earthy profiles of damp soil and soggy tree bark, even a bit of dried tobacco, albeit fleeting. It's relatively sweet, but not the cloying, toothache inducing kind of sweet.
Mouthfeel (4.25) - Full bodied and viscous, with a weight just like it's motor oil appearance. Moderate carbonation to counteract it from becoming sludgy. Semisweet and lingering finish on the tongue.
Overall (4.25), a fantastic beer and easily the best big, bold russian imperial stout in a can that I've had. This would be a great nightcap to have around the fire after a day of camping and drinking more heat-friendly canned beers in the sun. As the night comes over and the air starts to chill, whip out your can of Ten FIDY, pour it into your metal mess kit cup and sip away by the light of the fire.

Canned October 15, 2015, making this a bit under 8 and a half years old.
I'm really pleasantly surprised at how good this beer looks and smells. It pours as close to black as I think you can get, with loads of dense deep tan head that eventually receded to a much less attractive spotty cap. Nice lacing. Aroma still has some nice roasted malts.
Taste is similar to the nose, with roasted malts and faint chocolate. Full bodied and nice going down with subtle alcohol warming. Overall, good simple Imperial Stout.

Pours a dark, viscous black with an ample amount of tan head. Aroma is hot, dark fruit, char. The flavor is heat, hops, char, anise, and a little cafe. It reminds me a lot of Founders Imperial Stout and I love that beer. Great beer, scratches the itch for stout lovers and it won’t set you back too far……..,,cheers! you

A black body covered with a two-finger brown
head assimilates into a pint glass. The head is quite active, and fades in a few minutes, but leaves ample lacing... the carbonation level is good. The smell is absurdly light for a 10.5 ABV Imperial stout. Mostly malt and grain, with a subtle sweetness on the back end. The flavor, however is superb. Coffee and chocolate notes, malt, grains, nuttiness, subdued hops for the style... this beer is finely crafted, and literally wafts across the tongue like waves on the beach, especially as it warms during the session. The high ABV stout category has been somewhat overrun by a faddish movement toward barrel aged brews, and many of them are great beers... but Oscar Blues Ten Fidy is a great example of how good a finely designed Imperial Stout can be in the hands of a great brewer. I love this beer!

Gave this beer a try on a whim and I must say that I was beyond disappointed in this brew. The whole thing tasted and smelled of rubbing alcohol flavored stout. A shame really; I enjoy Oskar Blues and this was just a tremendous letdown. Not even worth finishing the can off.

First sniff is chocolate, first taste is hops. I'm surprised I didn't rate this the first time I tried it. This is a solid, surprisingly not-sweet, "What an IPA would like to be" option.

Poured black, really black. With a brown head that stood tall.
The aroma, while not as strong as it would be for most as my nose has been affected by Covid, is still coffee and roasted malts.
The taste is an amazing balance of flavors; the roasted malts bring the coffee and cacao and dark fruits and the hops provide an edge that keeps the flavor in check.
The feel is almost chewy, and it seems right for all the flavors that are present.
This is one of my favorite “pure” imperial stouts, just so good.

Pours black as night. Dark foam. Sweet malt aroma. Heavy roasted chocolate malt body. Coffee and caramel finish. Sweet but not overly sweet. Smoother than expected but you can definitely taste the alcohol. Not for the amateur beer drinker.
