This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. It is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops.

Pours as black as midnight oil with a caramel colored head.

Caramel, bourbon, vanilla, bitter herb, toffee, and wine in the nose.

Cola, caramel, toffee, vanilla, and bourbon in the mouth. Very tasty, complex, and intense.

Firmly dark to the eye, both when pouring and in the glass, to the point of being effectively opaque even when held up to the light. 1F head on pouring, which faded away in about a minute. Nothing too distinctive, but also no early detracting points.

A staunchly dark and assertive smell, without being overwhelming. The bourbon barrel scent had a much stronger residue from the empty can than from the beer itself, where I had to really seek it out in the scent.

A bit of a blunt onset to the taste, leaving a strong aftertaste that slowly develops into the starker bitter notes. Firm, forthright flavor all the way to the back of the tongue, with a little exhalation heat as a reminder.

Regains some of its initial foaminess when swished in the mouth, leaves a very slight film on the tongue, enough to keep the flavor present without being unpleasant or greasy.

The 12.5 ABV can certainly be tasted, but the beer has its own flavors to keep that from being the foremost quality. The bourbon touch isn’t something I’m really looking for in a stout, and that became more pronounced as I worked my way through the beer, becoming downright distracting by the end. That said, the brew is well-made, and hits its marks without a miss, even if they aren’t the marks that suit my tastes. Not something I would order or purchase all that often, but it got my respect.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a stein glass, enjoyed at 55º F with some lasagna and fried mozzarella. Can had “BORN ON: 8/25/25” stamped on the bottom.

Pours a brown- black color with a 2F tan head and moderate lacing.

Smells of toasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate.

Tastes of coffee, chocolate, caramel and vanilla with a moderately bitter, spicy and boozy warm finish.

Medium body with light carbonation. Slightly syrupy and oaty smooth finish.

This is a very tasty , big stout. I appreciate that it is lighter and less lush than many of the type.

Respectable stout with a deep flavor profile. Fairly hoppy as stouts go (fitting as an American Imperial), though manageable. The body comes more into its own as it begins to warm, exposing some of the lighter notes of vanilla and cacao. An immaculately smooth mouthfeel is present throughout the drinking experience. If you're a fan of hops, this is the stout for you.

Wow, so smooth serious stout, nice & malty but not overpowering, enough hops & bittering for balance.

12 oz can from a friend. The opaque black stout, poured with a tan foamy head that filled the top of the glass. Licorice, coffee, and dark chocolate aroma filled your nose over the glass. This is a drinking experience. If you love stouts, this is one to enjoy. Lots of licorice, roasted malts, and dark chocolate in the taste. The ABV at 10.5 % dictates a slow drinking process to enjoy the complete experience. This is stout that gets better, so drink slowly. The stout has a medium body and soft carbonation.

Copenhagen 10/3 2024. 35,5 cl can from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. Black can with the name and logo of beer and brewery in gold.

Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized beige head. Stable. Settles as thin patchy layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with alcohol and an earthy touch. Dark roasted malts, brown sugar and toffee. Dark alcohol. Coffee and vanilla.

Light carbonation. Thick, oily, viscous, creamy, smooth, soft and gently tingling texture.

Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and slightly boozy. Lingering. Finish is surprisingly dry.

Pretty intense and surprisingly hop-forward Imperial Stout.

12 oz can dated 8/26/24

Looks like the perfect imperial stout. Opaque black pour, three fingers fine brown head. Full curtain lacing and cap.
Coffee, cocoa, light char, fig aromas.
Chocolate, coffee roast, anise, very light char flavors.
Rich coating mouthfeel. Stubborn carbonation. Light bitter aftertaste. No alcohol heat but the 10.5 percent alcohol hits eventually.
Sometimes barrel-aged or milk stouts are too much. This is substantial but not overwhelming. A great beer from Oscar Blues.

I'm not much into Stouts, but like Imperials, so I thought I'd give it a try, OMG is this a good beer or not? I think I would drink more stouts if they were all this good. It has a good roasty chocolate malt taste and the oats mellow everything out. The strong alcohol content and sweetness mellows the hops, so you don't notice the 65IBU's. Very, very drinkable, but at 10.5% one can or bottle is fine. 65 IBUs Rated 11-11-2018

Strong black coffee pour with a light brown head. Thick foam lace on the glass. Quint essential imperial stout in smell and taste. Coffee and dark chocolate. Well balanced between sweetness and carbonation. Overall a very good brew.
