Gubna was bred from Oskar Blues Brewery’s hankering to confront 100+ IBUs by cranking up the complexity of hops by pouring Cascade on top of copious amounts of Summit, then balancing that with a backbone of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt. GUBNA’s post-fermentation dry-hopping with both hops allows this monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma while providing a rye malt-induced, spicy-yet-round middle, and a brisk, clean bitter finish (10 percent ABV, 100+ IBUs).

Picked up a 12oz can in a Whole Foods in Whitebread, WA. Enjoyed in my new Fish pint glass in a splendid Central Oregon campsite.
This beer pours a cloudy muddled golden yellow colour, with tons of teeming, frothy, voluminous, foamy (you get the idea) eggshell white head, which settles slowly and steadily, eventually rendering a nice thick bike chain of lace around the glass. It smells of soft, almost bready, caramel, citrus rind, and pine hops. The taste is sweet caramel, and a strong musty, earthy, leafy hop character. The carbonation is on the low side, the body pretty full and smooth. It finishes with a rather underwhelming uptake of that weird mustiness.
Not really what I expected - the hops seem to be off - no clean, crisp citrus/pine effect here, just an earthy dullness that overrides the other universal attractive attributes - a good looker, that holds its booze very well. Which means, of course, no lasting desire to engage.

Amber color with a decent head and lace.
Aroma of floral hops, malts, stinky hops and hints of fruit.
Taste was sweet, mild bitterness, malts and an odd taste I could not really describe to you.
Medium body and carbonation.

355 ml can, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10.0%. Orange colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely aroma of piney hops, smells like a pine forest, also some fruity notes (oranges). The flavour is a massive attack of fruity and piney American hops, fairly light bodied and dry for its strength.

Wonderful aroma, thick clumpy lacing. Taste is oranges and other citrus, a hint of cough syrup sweetness, with a smidge of alcohol warmth. Be careful, this one will sneak up on you.
