Poured from can into tulip, monster 2+ finger lightish tan head, great retention and lacing. Crystal clear reddish amber in the glass. Great looking beer. Smells of crystal malt, heavy malt aroma, dankish pine hops. Taste, heavy earthy dank hops up front, pine peaks out in the middle with some slight citrus. Finish is on the semi dry side. Mouthfeel is viscous and syrupy in a good way. No alcohol detected

From notes 9/2/12: Pours a hazy coppery orange producing 3 fingers of foamy, variously bubbled, lasting, light tan/off-white head that leaves a nice coating of chunky lace. Aroma is sweet camel malt, cotton candy, butter and vanilla hints. Hops in the nose are floral, pine and some citrus. Taste is butter, caramel, with grapefruit and resinous pine rapidly kicking in but reaching an equilibrium with caramel and candy apple in the mid-sip through a buttery and bitter cedar wood finish. The sweetness is rapidly overtaken by the dry and bitter cedar aftertaste.

A bit on the dark side, very caramelly, then malty, then hops. ABV pops up way back in the finish, a lot of warmth in the gullet. Nice small beige creamy head, aroma is on the malty side. Fairly smooth, and tasty.

12 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Bottled 1/24/17, had 4/3/17.
Pours a medium amber, fairly clear, with a big two inch foamy head and a good amount of foamy lacing. The smell is citrus- grapefruit, pine, malt, caramel, toffee, some yeast. The taste starts with pine, then more citrus than the nose- grapefruit and orange, caramel, malt, a decent amount of hop bitterness throughout. Little bit of a sweet note on the finish. Smooth, well carbonated, a little creamy, a solid medium body.
A solid malt backbone supports an expressive hop presence. Really good flavor and balance.

Poured from 12oz can into glass. Canning date stamped on can bottom '12/22/[email protected]:13 SO MUCH SIN ONE LITTLE CAN'.
Hazy, copper body, bone colored head settles to thin cap, lots of lacing.
Brewer's notes: "Deviant Dale’s Imperial IPA (8% ABV, 85 IBUs) was born at the cross roads, in a juke joint, as if Dale’s Pale Ale sold its soul to balance Deviant’s foreboding aromas of citrus, grapefruit rind and piney resins with a copper ball-of-fire color and inscrutable finish. The 2011 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner (American IPA Category) is the Devil incarnate with untold amounts of malt and hedonistic Columbus dry-hopping."
Piney, citrus aroma, same with taste. Dry finish.
In your face IIPA, ticks all the taste points, solid.

Classic imperial IPA. Good balanced between the resinous and grapefruity hops and the caramel from the malt. The mouthfeel is nice, very smooth with fine carbonation. A good west coast style IIPA

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Mostly clear amber/copper pour. Two fingers of foamy off-white head. Falls fast with sticky lacing around the glass.
S: Rich caramel malts and bread. Sweet and hoppy.
T/F: Follows the nose. Sweet bready malts... caramel and sugars. This largely masks the big bitterness of the beer. Hop profile tends to the resinous and herbal. Some citrus/fruit character... tea and medicinals. Sticky/oily on the tongue. Finish is bitterness and bread. Warming.
O: A nice flavorful DIPA.... almost more like an Imperial Red than an IPA, but no matter how you slice it this is tasty. Lots of big malts and bitter hops. Complex and yummy.

Pours a clear amber body, leaves a film of a white foamy head, super light lacing, aroma is malty hoppiness, taste is bittersweet with a nice added caramel touch, dry aftertaste and finish, its pretty easy on the palate as it could be pretty good with a meal, overall, not a bad AIPA, worthy of many more pours, but nothing to really go out of my way to have again.
