Poured from a 16oz can, this was one of my first beers right after I completed a liver cleanse. What a great choice to get back into hops.

The aroma was a nice grapefruit pine smell, taste was nice and strong from the dry hopping process. The head was light and lingered for a few minutes. Color was a a nice light coppery tone to it.

Overall one of the best IPA's I've had in a while.

16 oz can into my Pretty Things pint glass
A - dark orange from the can, foamy head persists
S - I can smell the hops the instant I open the can, and it fills the room. Beautiful resiny hops fragrance.
T - Hop bomb, bitter and more bitter. This is my favorite style of beer, and this tastes wonderful.
M - lighter and not as sticky as say G'Knight.
O - I think I like G'night a bit better, but this is really good.

This beer is very unique tasting. I get grapefruit juice and pine with a caramel roasted malt backbone.
Finishes very dry, with the essence of grapefruit and sweet malt left behind. I think it tastes best from the can.
Just as heady topper does as well. Also happy and pleased that they ship quickly and I can get a fresh can less than a month old in NH.

473ml Can from the Brewdog Online Shop:
Light caramel amber with some orange and a 0.5cm, bubbly white head that stays pretty decent for such a strong beer, leaving some nice lacing too.

Plenty pine hops and tropical fruits on top of a caramel base that hints at some vanilla too. The smell is great with plenty of strength and fruity mix of grapefruit, pineapple and citrus, some floral notes & a subtle hint of alcohol as well.

Tropical fruits but with the caramel and sweet malts coming more to the forefront in the taste. There is a great caramel flavour mixed together with the grapefruit and pineapple I mentioned earlier on the nose. Subtle alcohol & the citrus & pine hops feature heavily.

Smooth, sweet and quite rich with a smooth and medium body that features some stickiness in places. There is some hints of alcohol but the beer is frighteningly easy to drink.

Almost perfect and very probably the best beer I've ever tried (thankfully it has at least limited UK distribution into the bargain). Phenomenal with an amazing taste. I'll be picking this up again the next time I see it anywhere.

I must be slipping - 204 CAN reviews before me!? Ah, well. This is a CANQuest (TM) weekend and there is no end in sight.

From the black and flat brick red CAN: "Sippin' on a tall boy"; "Let's sling a little mud, girl"; "Pack it in, pack it out"; "CANS infinitely recyclable"; "coloRADo USA".

Oh, yeah, this was gonna be rad! I had just choked down a CAN o' crap and this was just what the doctor ordered. It began with a massive two fingers of tawny head, but I kept refilling the glass as it subsided until I had less than a finger remaining. What I was left with was a glass full of a deep-amber liquid with NE-quality clarity. Nose was simply dank - sticky, grassy, minty, much like my garden. Mouthfeel was on the thin side, so much so that I felt as though I were drinking unsweetened iced tea. Until the kick occurred. Man, this had the punch of a Missouri mule on the finish. I sat back back in my chair, attempting to catch my breath when I heard my long-silent monkey on my back begin to chatter. "Hops!" he screeched incessantly and when I CANnot satiate him, he goes berserk. Sweat ran in rivulets down my face. My quivering hand reached again for the glass. Beer slopped over the sides of the glass as I lifted it to my lips. One sip and I was a man again! I dialed up the Old Lady so that she could partake in the action. Who needs Viagra with this beer?!? Actually, who needs Viagra with my Old Lady? At any rate, the finish was breathtaking, very minty, and the sticky lacing was going to need a jackhammer to remove it. Not bad.

Clear amber yellowish orange with a large frothy off-white head that just sits there for a while. Good sticky lacing.

Big complex hop bouquet, leading off with a floralness, a touch of sweet malt mixed in, before getting some citrus and pine. Tropical and tasty, very inticing.

Big hoppy blast with a sticy sweet maltiness. The hops are more bitter than I was wanting from the awesome aroma, but the complexity I was expecting is there, with the pine and citrus. Definitely a flavor explosion.

Moderately heavy with an average carb, and plenty of residue after the swallow. A pleasantly interesting feel.

Super nice IPA, bordering in a double. A definite sipper and worth savoring every drop. One of my new favorites.

A: Ruby red grapefruit haze. Thin white sticky lace head.

S: Sweet grapefruit Simoce, Warrior, and Centennial Hop skunk funk. Holy Syrupy candied Lemon Drop shots Batman.

T: Vicious sour orange grapefruit. Hop tackular mouth bombing bitters. This is truly a grueling Hop Slam!

M: Medium High Carbonation. This is a tongue biting bitch. Sour Florida swamp monster. Thickening pine cone relish. Damn man what a Hop Bomb!

O: Holy sour bitch face. This one sour Payton Manning trading bomb down field. It puts Ruination to shame here. Only Only Only for DIPA hop monster lovers! Anyone else would hate it. YUM YUM YUM

The most complex nose of any IPA I've ever had. This beer is boozy almost like a double, and has an overwhelming amount of floral, pine and citrus hops. A must try for any hophead.

Poured from can into a pint glass ,red tinted with an orange hue color and an off white one finger head , lots of lacing and carbonation bubbles

The smell is amazing , the hops and malt blend together almost perfect , smells a little spicy to me with some sweetness at the end

Thick mouthy brew with enough carbonation to offset that , really nice

The taste is amazing , starts off with a little spicy hops ,then the malt kicks in with just enough sweetness and the bitterness blends in well with the alcohol that kicks in at the end

Ive been wanting to try this beer for a while now , it has just became my new favorite IPA ,the flavors are all so complex but all join together in perfect harmony, I wish I could purchase this locally.

A - Hazy tan body with a cherry wood red hue.Off white thick head, oatmeal colored.

S - Huge hope aroma. Big piney and citrus notes across the board. Slight floral notes with some slight malt notes as well.

T - Huge orange citrus taste up front along with a ton of tropical fruit. I've had beers with tropical fruit hops before, but this is quite frankly insanely tropical and delicious. Melon and pineapple galore. Good bitterness level helps keep it from being overly sweet.

M - Thick bodied, good carbonation, no alcohol burn. Might be a bit too thick.

O - Delightful and delicious. Taste is beyond this world. Wish the mouthfeel was closer to medium bodied so I could drink more without feeling weighed down. You've gotta check this beer out.

So, the readers give Deviant Dale's a 90 and the Bros - with whose ratings I generally concur - only rate it an 87. I love this ale! I'm a huge fan of DIPAs and Barleywines, and this is a hybrid of the two. I find it the optimal balance between malt and hop, sweet and bitter, breadiness and pineyness. And it's great that it comes in a pint can, because I'm not usually satisfied with only the first 12 ounces.

The color is a perfect IPA caramel, which is a hint of the flavor and aroma to come. The aroma is tangy and sweet - it would be a great aroma for sweet and sour pork at a Chinese restaurant. And the taste is sweet and caramel-y, but with pine notes popping through and a slyly late bitterness to the finish. There are no perceptible citrus notes, which contributes to its barleywine-like qualities.

I'm going to be having this over and over and over. It's a masterful accomplishment for Oskar Blues, and I appreciate the artistry behind it as much as the taste!

P.S. I reviewed this on July 2nd, checked my leave time balance, and decided that I should take the 3rd off. So now that my long weekend has started, I decided to put Deviant Dale's to the test, and compare it to Dogfish Head Burton Baton, which was in my fridge. BB is a blend of Dogfish 90 Minute and an oak-aged old ale. Its oak-y characteristics create a taste similar to Deviant Dale's so I thought it'd be a good comparison. The two have a lot in common. BB has a more hop-forward profile and a more bitter edge, DD is sweeter. I've always liked BB a great deal. If the truth be known, I like DD better. At my local craft ale shop, they're the same price for a four-pack, but the BB four pack is four 12 oz. bottles, the DD four pack is four 16 oz. cans.
