Poured into a Sam Smith's English pint. One of the most attractive beers I can remember seeing, with a perfect head and frothy, thick lacing. Twenty plus minutes into the pour, a melting island of head still rests above the creamy tan cap. Nose is pine resin, spicy hops, citrus, vanilla, and wood.

This is complex, interesting stuff. Lots of hops and alcohol notes in the front of the sip but in the aftertaste is oak and leather and dark fruit and yeast and plenty of other factors. High octane but definitely drinkable for the initiated.

I've been on an IPA in a can kick lately..that and the fact that I have enjoyed other products from Oskar Blues made me buy it.
From the can and onto the glass it poured a dark amber, caramel color with a big foam head.
In the aroma there is sweetness; brown sugar, molasses.
Likewise, in the taste sweetness predominates. There is a smooth, caramel texture. At times it feels more barley wine like. More malt forward than hoppy. The hops are subdued and more in the background, as they provide more balance. The body is medium to full , even slightly chewy.
I would recommend this one if you are looking for a more malt forward IPA and craving something more on the sweet side. Certainly not the brew to have if you need that atomic hops fix. Overall, pretty tasty.
P.S. I've read other reviews, after the one above, and wonder why some people are referring to it as a hop bomb. It certainly did not strike me as hops forward. I'm more in the majority in that I find it, along with a select few reviewers, to be more malty. Did I get an older can?

Poured from a can into a snifter. Beautiful thick creamy head and great lacing, brownish gold color. The smell is nutty and slightly boozy. The taste is rich with caramel and some citrus. Enjoyed it.

An orange/amber beer. Good-sized tan head that dissipated quickly. A good deal of lacing.
Dank, floral aroma. Sweet malt.
Hoppy. Grapefruit. Caramel.
Smooth. Nice balance.

The beer pours a fairly hazy ruby tinted orange with a perfectly sized head. offers up some caramel and chocolate malty notes first, then the hops kick in with pine and pineapple in the lead. The flavor starts with mold caramel sweetness, and the seugues into some floral flavors, followed by a nice shot of pine, which lingers in the finish with some more caramel and a touch of grapefruit peel. The mouthfeel is fairly full with some medium carbonation. Overall this is a very nice IPA, maltier than I generally enjoy, but the flavor profile is so powerful, that the whole beer just works.

Got on trade! 12oz can served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a 1/2" high white head that lasts for 3-4mins before film out. Dark gold colour and filtered clear

S- Nice hops here. Lots of sweetness

T- Nice hops. Touch sweet and malty though. It's definitely an APA more than an IPA. Just has that high sugar/malt presence.

M- Sticky from the sugar.

O- Not a great IPA but very good. Decent style but will not buy if I see it.

Food Pairing

This pretty good brew went well with...... Beer burritos!

Enjoy
