Really nice balanc between caramel and grapefruit. Very citrusy. Nice mouthfeel with a good carbonation. No booziness. Nice amber look with a two fingers head

This is a well known beer from one of my favorite brewers; I have no idea why I am only reviewing it formally now. Huge head and a nose loaded with spicy and medicinal hops. Strong start. Awesome lace forming too.

The taste is a little more reserved than I expected, especially for the octane. It still delivers caramel and toffee notes chased hard by citrus and pine. Really smooth in texture and finish; almost like a cream ale or schwarzbier. Really drinkable, almost scarily so for the style. Another outstanding effort from Oskar Blues.

Poured a dark, dark red with a persistent and large head which mostly dissipated about a minute and a half after the pour
Smells sweet and hoppy, a solid but not overpowering smell
The taste of the malt is mainly sweet and the hops are piney, both flavors are very strong and accented with a mild burn of alcohol in this nearly 9% brew,
This ale is exceptional, would recommend if you like strong sh**

From a 355ml can served at 12 degrees Celsius into a snifter. Canned on date is blurry but it's definitely a 2016 beer. More than six months old for sure.

Look: The beer pours a brilliant deep copper with red hues – beautiful colour. 4cm of puffy, deep tan head forms on top of the beer which settles into a craggy cap after 2+ minutes. The head and lacing are decent but nothing to write home about.

Smell: Strong and well-balanced with a tug of war between the malts and hops. Malty notes of caramel and toast. The hops are citrus and pine-forward with fainter notes of berries , pineapple, and melon. Even some dark fruit esters manage to show their face. Complex and very enticing.

Taste: Damn delicious. Same as the aroma with equal strength and balance. Rich and complex with notes of caramel, toast, citrus (grapefruit), resinous pine, berries, and some dark fruit. The finish is long, strong, and bitter... just like life.

Feel: Medium-full body with mild carbonation. Round, warming, and slightly astringent. More of a sipper but I think it works really well. You wouldn't want to crush a high ABV beer anyway.

Overall: An outstanding beer. She's great-looking with a nice mouthfeel and there's a ton going on in terms of the malts & hops and they all hum in unison. Highly recommended.

Amber reddish color with a huge thick beige head with great retention and leaving strong laces.
Aroma with predominant notes of caramels, pine and grapefruit.
Flavor with notes of toasted and caramel malts, grapefruit, pine, black pepper, pineapple, some red fruits and mild resin and earth. Dry and bitter aftertaste finishing with piney and toasted notes.
Light to medium body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 8.7% is felt a bit as flavoring, not warming. Mildly sticky.
Very good beer. Although it is a hoppy Red ale you can still feel its malt base nuances. This is like a light version of an American Barley Wine. As such, it grows throughout the degustation.

Tastes Caramel malt, candied fruit and citrus peel. Followed by light fruit and piney. Finish is dry with pine linger. Medium body and creamy medium carbonation.

2009 backlog. LOL at my reaction to it being in a can. *Groans* "12 oz can. An imperial IPA in a can! Wonders never cease. Aroma is of hops, sweet caramel malt. Beautiful looking beer with a nice thick head which whittles down to a medium sized head which lasts throughout. Nice copper hue. Nice even balance between the malt and the hops. Strong alcohol aftertaste. It’s slightly watery, but not overbearingly so. Nice, nice beer (in a can!!)."
