Notes / Commercial Description:
Each autumn's hop harvest presents an opportunity to assess yearly variation in flavors. Some are broad across all the plants in the region, others are specific to unique clones and certain farms. Each fall we choose two different varieties to add to our Harvest Ale. The firs we receive right off the bines and add it wet in the whirlpool. The second we add whole cone as a dry hop. Our base is a simple pale with a touch of rye spiciness to be seasonally appropriate with enough heft to support the selected hops while otherwise existing to flaunt the year's crop's nuances. Harvest 2013 was wet hopped with Mosaic from B.T. Loftus Ranches, Inc. and dry hopped with Citra also from B.T. Loftus Ranches. Drink Harvest because it is a fresh taste of things to come.

On tap at George street alehouse in new Brunswick. Arrives in a tulip with a half finger of foam. Cloudy pale orange color. Aroma is mild with a hint of rye spiciness and iced tea.

This beer has a lot of pleasant citrus hop flavor without a strong bitter finish. Grapefruit, orange and a hint of blueberry hop flavors are balanced by a simple sweet malt base that allows the hop flavors to shine. A hint of tea-like flavor is present also. This is very smooth and full of hop flavor but also quite easy to drink.

Very glad to have tried this beer and would certainly order this again if I see it.

From 12/13/13 notes. Had a 16oz. pour of this in a pint glass at Mission Dolores.

a - Pours a dark amber-orange color with two inches of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of citrus hops, fruity malts, floral hops, earthy notes and herbal notes, grapefruit, rye, yeast, and light spice. Nice hops up front, I like it.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, fruity malts, tropical fruits, herbal notes, floral hops, light rye and spice, toast, and bread. More fruit here than the nose and a little bit hoppier. A slight step up from the nose for me.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth and pretty easy to drink.

o - Overall a very nice and solid rye beer. Nice hops to it and a good amount of fruit in the taste. Easy to drink, would like to have it again.
