Not much to analyze about IDIPA™. Sometimes you just crave a dank IPA to sip on, so that’s what we made. Multiple hops, multiple malts and multiple yeasts combined in a way to placate the dank side of our desires. Drink IDIPA because it’s the dankness you need.

Modest finger worth of a head, cream white with light dimpling across the surface, retention is below average and the lacing presents a surprising lack of stickiness. Filmy deep orange colored liquid, closer to transparent than opaque, barely any bubbles visible. The nose is powerful and aggressive with sour orange to grapefruit citrus, pine cones, pepper, salted pretzels and plenty of green leafy matter, the melon, apricot, pineapple fruit oddly lacks staying power, leaving it spicy and earthy rather than fruity. In the mouth it’s medium-bodied with nice firm compactness, not parching but definitely dry. Pineapple, mango, nectarine to peach fruit, concentration no juice. The peppery, spicy edge dominates and what carbonation is there tends to jab and prickle rather than gently churn. Minimal florality but there’s a fair amount of breadiness and biscuit notes. The citrus comes across as mixed and indistinct and a minor bit player. The earthiness and leafiness relentless in being the final word in the conversation. Not easy drinking but has personality and makes you take it on its terms.

DATE: February 16, 2021... OCCASION: Fat Tuesday comes again, and I prepare for Lent with a beer I should have a had a long time ago--too many good Cartons out there, even after having the World Turned Upside Down at the EBF... GLASSWARE: Hop Devil nonick... pours from a sixteen-ounce can a swirling storm of miniature bubbles that build a single-finger of snow-white head that settles to a creamy smear that banks on the glass...its body is a nice amber gold, mostly translucent, and resilient in its head retention... honey, pine, fragrant flowers, crisp pilsner malts, caramel, orange smooth, buttery ease from the teeth to the throat--this has no weight despite its 7% ABV... a brilliant flourish throughout, effervescent and juicy.... despite its hop-heavy fragrance, this has a nice backbone of cracker malts that compliment the pine, grapefruit and orange, maybe even papaya... this gets better with each sip, warming up with a resinous draw that seeps and crawls its way to the throat... it avoids the puckering of bigger bombs, and maybe could be a bit more aggressive, but all the same, it finishes well on the back end... a lovely beer, and one I would revisit again...the price is about right too...

Appearance: Pours a clear light amber color with a two finger head; good retention and splashy lacing with a web developing
Smell: Resinous pine with hints of caramel and grapefruit pith - dank like the label says
Taste: Dank pine flavors hit the palate with a hint of caramel malt underneath; some grapefruit pith develops in the middle and there is a touch of tropical fruit in the melange, as well; nice bitterness on the tail end
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A nice West Coast style IPA; not much to analyze here

Served on tap in pint. Poured a beautiful thick bronze/ dark gold color. If you’re looking for flavor you’ve came to the right place. Major outburst of tropical hops & malts boost the tongue as you take the first sip. Plenty of aroma. Not necessarily for me as I’m more of a medium hop person. But this beer has character. Would drink again.

16oz can. Pours a golden brown color with 2 inches of frothy head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is dank hops, pine, grapefruit and orange. The taste is much like the aroma. Pine, grapefruit, orange peel and some dank hops. Bread crusts, pine and orange peel finish. Creamy with an oily mouthfeel.

Tastes like the floor of a horse stable. This beer underwhelmed in every way, as did their Stay Down dry hopped session lager. at $14 a 4pk its pure robbery. The second i get to work tomorrow I'm putting both in the discount bin. Sub-par beer at a premium price.. that's not how it works. Back to the drawing board Carton. Never again.
