Style: Cream Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 12.00%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Caffé Corretto is a continuation of the Regular Coffee game. Our golden imperial coffee cream ale has been finished with fennel, licorice, and anise. Much like how Regular Coffee looks to evoke Jersey’s version of an acidic, bitter coffee curbed by milk and sugar, Caffé Corretto takes a lesson from our Italian friends by running a touch of anise’s bitter-to-sweet path alongside coffee’s. Drink Caffé Corretto and Roma if you want to.

From 12 oz can, thanks Tim, not sure what to expect from this unusual take on a Cream Ale. Looks very good with large white head over a hazy honey color. Some strange shaped floaties on the bottom, 4.25.

Smells complex, very complex. Coffee and pumpernickel bread. Then some herb notes I can't pinpoint. Smells unlike any other beer out there for sure, 4.75.

Taste very much as is smells, sweet coffee, Vanilla and creamy lactose, 4.75.

Feel is defiantly Imperial, thick and creamy but without any alcohol present. A crushable 12% in a can, dangerous stuff, 4.75.

Overall this is a killer Cream Ale. So complex with the coffee and those spices. The addition of the Licorice really works well here. This is by far one of the most unusual and darring beers I've tried yet. Homerun Carton Brothers, 4.75

L: Pours a caramel color with just a tad bit of haze. Some small pieces of sediment settled at the bottom of the glass.
S: Holy black licorice. Tons of anise on the nose. Coffee is very prominent in the aroma as well.
T: Tons of black licorice, fruity coffee, and a sugary sweetness. Booze is there but not overwhelming.
F: Smooth, acidic, and slightly boozy.
O: One of the more unique beers I've had. You definitely have to like black licorice to enjoy this, and luckily I do. Great beer.

12 oz can dated 12/22/16. Poured into Belgian ale glass and let sit for a while, as this needs to warm.

L: Scant 2F white head with moderate spotty lacing and a cap and ring. Beer is a fairly clear amber color.

S: Whoa, very strong anise, slightly overbaked biscotti, sweet lactose, and a hint of coffee. Frankly, this nose beats Imperial Biscotti Break by a significant margin. It's really nice. Unless you don't like anise. Then you should drink something else.

T: Man, this is great. A biscotti dunked in light, sweet coffee. That's exactly what this tastes like. Like with Regular Coffee, ABV is disguised maddeningly well; there is only a slight hint as it warms. Seriously, though, this is fantastic.

F: Medium body, light carbonation. ABV helps with drying but you want this taste to linger anyway and it really does. Fantastic construction, great balance. You don't want to pound it at 12% ABV, but it's hard to put down.

O: Yesterday I said Regular Coffee is the best cream ale I've ever tried. We have a new champion and despite the difference in style, this absolutely blows Imperial Biscotti Break off the map. If you like that, you'll love this.

This is an exceptional beer in my humble opinion. Absolutely delicious, fresh and creamy. The last "cream ale" I had was in the 80's "Genese cream ale" Which for macro piss is OK. This beer is simply delicious. Way too expensive IMO. 64oz growler near there brewery- 35 clam dogs! That is Seventy dollars a gallon!! Super fresh!!

A multihued caramel in color. Smell mimics my straight-off-the boat grandpa's biscotti: Biscotti a la Justino. It's more like the sweet and sugary dough mix in aroma than the finished product. A vegetal fennel quality mimics the herbal and medicinal anise. Mouthfeel is a bit slick, and I'm reminded I'm drinking a cream ale. A bit syrupy and cloying to an extent, definitely coats the mouth. Flavor is almond, a touch of vanilla, a bit of burnt coffee as if you got the end piece of the biscotti log, and of course an ever pervasive licorice. Finish is strong and alcoholic, and reminds me of the shots of sambuca we took to celebrate a successful bake!
