Burnt orange color with minimal head. Sweet aroma; caramel & cherries. Sweet tasting with a hint of salty-bitter. I wasn't all that impressed with the flavor: caramel, cherries, melon, cough syrup with some earthiness. Thin to medium viscosity
& carbonation. I missed the pineapple.

Oh wow. This one is fairly incredible. It has a very unique color, a wonderful taste, and a beautiful aroma. It's heavenly. I want another one. Sooner, rather than later.

A very sweet, muddled tasting fruit bomb of a barleywine. This beer certainly fit the bill for the extreme beer fest but it was far from my favorite. Not bad, just not great.

DATE: January 28, 2021... OCCASION: the eve of my father's funeral, I share a few beers with Jerry, the brother who gifted me this box of awesomeness--the epitome of bittersweet... pours a smoldering red, opaque body... a cirrus cloud rings around the edge... wow--the upside down cake explodes with icing and sweet flour.... the barley malts anchor the beer so it doesn't fly away... a medicinal hint, but it doesn't preach... full-bodied, active, vibrant, demanding, and coating as it leaves--creamy on the tongue and warming throughout....buttery too--what an experience! vanilla cream, pineapple, cherries, boozy like sherry, fig, and peach--full-on flavor...funny and refreshing that Augie couldn't nail down the ABV! This is a worthwhile, special experience...

Amazing Barleywine. Malty sweetness leads the nose w/ hints of boozy cherry and pineapple. Smooth & solid body. Smoky caramelized pineapple starts off the palate, followed by cherry notes & deep, complex sugar profiles. Finish is boozy & sweet, w/ nice barrel character to round it all out.

Can from Half-time/BA for EBF 2021. Pours a beautiful clear reddish dark orange amber with a flash of off-white head, boozy lacing, smell is booze soaked dates, dried figs, raisin, hints of maraschino cherry, red tootsie roll pop, and burnt pineapple/pineapple creme, brûlée, taste follows the nose with big rich boozy dried fruit malts, raisin, dates, fig jam, soft toffee and caramel, overripe pinapple, yellow cake, and booze, nice undercurrent of sweet and sour cherry hard candy throughout and a nice lingering toasted sugar on the finish, feel is full bodied, soft carbonation, finishes dry. This one hits all the marks, pineapple, burnt sugar, cherry, booze. Adult cough syrup vibes. Yum!

A good beer for the Extreme Beer Fest! An odd and interesting beer.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Orangish/reddish brown color with with a pinkish beige head and good curtain lacing. Strong fruity boozy smell and taste. The high ABV is not subtle in this one! Pleasant sweetness and flavor from the pineapple and cherries. Enjoying it on the veranda on a coolish afternoon- perfect for the setting!

Appearance – 4.
First pour – Carnelian (SRM ?), hazy.

Lacing – None. None expected at 12% ABV.
Aroma – 4.5 – Pineapple roasted in brown sugar, no hops, no malt, no yeast, no cherries.
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins sweet but not cloying, weak brown sugar and pineapple with a hint of cherries. No hops, no malt, no yeast. Some barrel at the end.

Smells like a nut brown but you can tell theres some weird in it. The taste has a good malt backbone with more cherry-wine than pineapple, and it finishes pretty boozy. Overall too bad, i was expecting something way weirder. It mostly tastes like a strong ale with some cherry, its not a crazy beer.

Well it is extreme! Orange brown pour, surface islands spot the top. Smell has the pineapple and cherry especially powerfully, but also getting apple, light amounts of wood, plenty of sweet booze (maybe brandy) and candied orange. The barley itself is hidden until the taste where it and the booze run to meet the pineapple and cherry, kinds of giving me a watergate salad complexion, very sweet. Yet I get a lot of apple, caramel and lesser amounts of marshmallow and grape. It is heavily streamlined toward the adjuncts, yet I can't stop noticing more complexity as I sip. Feel is very sweet though, cloys a bit as it warms, lighter, thinner, and very smooth but has a syrupy finish that detracts. It truly is a unique experience, I love the creativity in the vision, but I don't need to have again

Sampling this beer during EBF 2021. Beer poured at cellar temp into my snifter. Beer exudes a bright red color, very clear with minimal dense eggshell white head on the surface that fades to an edge layer soon after the pour.
Aroma is a bit of toffee and a lot of cherry and some pineapple. Fairly sweet nose, but not cloying or candylike, which I was worried about based on the ingredient list. Only a slight boozy note to this beer
First sip reveals a medium to thick body with slight sticky texture and very spacious and soft carbonation. The beer drinks very easy based on the physical traits.
Flavor is fruity up front and throughout. I get pear and cherry notes and some grape flavor, alot going on. Pineapple is subdued with hints of sweet malt like caramel also mixing in. I get a little booze and barrel notes on the finish. Hops not present and not any heat from booze more just flavor.
A complex and interesting beer that impressed me quite a bit, as I was a little skeptical when I read the description. But this is a winner and I would buy this again if it were available in the future.

Really exceptional beer, with layers of toffee malt, sherry, cherry, and pineapple coming in successive waves. Complex and manages to be both a great barleywine and taste like an upside-down cake without being gimmicky or cloying.

Really unique. Flavorful. Drinkable for a high ABV beer. Smells different than it tastes, but not in a bad way. I was skeptical going into this beer. Very pleasantly surprised. Wonderful beer.

Full disclosure, I'm not a Barleywine fan:
Pours red with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet and winelike. Taste is sweet with strong cherry influence. Feel is decent but a bit thin. Overall, I think it's doing what it's supposed to do and does a decent job, but it's not to my taste.

12oz can served in a sample glass. Part of Extreme Beer Fest.

Pours orange colored, slightly hazy, with a medium flash of head. Smell is maraschino cherries and pineapple, a little booze, and maybe a bit of oak.

Taste is barleywine with orange cream soda and a strong booze characteristic.

Mouthfeel is thick and still. Overall, very good.

Pours with more of a reddish, amber tint due to the cherries. Strong smell of grilled pineapple, lightly smoky, on the initial pour. As it warms, the cognac and brandy barrels take over entirely. I always really enjoy barleywines aged in barrels from wine or grape distillates, but this one is not as much my type as something like CBC's Arquebus. The barrel and spirits really dominate later on in the experience.

Orange to red pour. The smell of sherry, pineapple juice, and apple brandy hits the nose. The flavors on this are sublime; cherries and pineapples are front and center. Sugary sweet fruit juice, sweet malt, and some molasses are present. Finish has a slight warming feel to remind you the potency of what you are drinking.

I just love this beer, and to enjoy as Augie Carton is drinking as well at EBF and explaining the experience was just aces. If this were available, I'd buy in a heartbeat. A barleywine for those who are on the fence for the style.
