Notes: Like all things truly Jersey, 077XX makes the most in balancing through its accentuation of extremes. Inspired by the west coast IPAs we love, we added a thump of hops to a dynamic malt profile and chose a yeast to drive these two further than they wanted to go. Throw our water into this mix and you will find dank green resinous hops popping over orange, mango and papaya aromas, with just enough sweetness of body to make the long finish a pleasure to have around. Drink 0’Dub when your night matters.

Got on tap in a pint glass. What a beautiful pour. The foam head was a half an inch sitting perfect on top. The piney aroma was beautiful as you lift the beer to drink. Slightly bitter but it’s the kind of bitter to make your tastebuds tingle. This is a great beer.

22oz pour at Vanguard at Newark Airport. A bit pricey, but not outrageous.

Looks splendid in the glass. CleR pale amber body. Small white head shrinks to a fat collar and covering, rings of lacing.

Hoppy aroma that bounces between pine and grapefruit.

On tasting, drinks stronger than the abv would suggest. Bitter, pine and grapefruit, but this doesn't lay heavily on the tongue. Solid malt base.

Mouth close to full, finish almost seems like a smooth bitterness with pine transitioning to grapefruit.

Overall, splendid beer. Glad to have found it at the airport. Server Mani gave the following draft options, "Sam Adam's Boston Lager, Stella., and.... oh yes, Carton 077XX". A no brainer.

(16 oz can, 09/29/21; purchased cold 4-pack... poured into my Belhaven pub pint)

L: clear, brassy-gold liquid, until some speckled, sparkly sediment slips in; med-tight spongy foam stand... maybe due to the sediment, but the head recedes to a thin collar; little lace

S: pineapple, dried mango, flower-water, spiced orange; maybe some light, cereal-like crystal malt poking through... definite muffin-baked malt foundation supporting the vaguely earthy, leafy hop highlights... bit of alcohol accentuating the citrusy character of the hops... overall, moderately rich depth, yet muddy clarity, subdued intensity

T: a citrusy, leafy bitterness, a bit English in its overall hop and ester character... over and over, orange and mango rind; back end bitterness has a peppery, tonic edge... delectable marriage of whipped creamy malt and fruity cannabis

F: delicately plush resinous texture; back end bitter bite near stinging thanks to the charge of ethanol... palate maintains a steady pilot light or smooth burn from start to finish... joyous contact

O: so finally I've gotten around to this review... had this beer maybe no more than a half-dozen times, including once at the brewery... solid, dynamic, strong hoppy ale with pleasing assertive malt presence and bitterness; eminently drinkable, begging for another round (1840)

16oz can served in a Kane tulip. Cannot read the date. Received from @MacMalt in BIF #14.

Pours a clear amber-gold with a respectable but restrained head. Smell is a little grain and a lot of pine. Maybe some lemon or grapefruit rind.

Taste is pretty extreme bitterness. Like I haven't tasted in quite some time. Pine and intense grapefruit zest. If I pay attention, there's some sweetness that flashes across the palate before the bitterness strikes. It might be kind of a honey / floral.

Mouthfeel is dry and light. Overall, this is a nice bitter beer.

On draft at Novela, Terminal C, EWR
Sticky off white head over hazy pale bronze; big fresh-picked orange nose with some flowers + pine; a speck of caramel then grapefruit, lemon verbena, spruce needles, and a thread of dank; bitter, salty, clean, oily, hot.

A looker, with sheeting rings of foam. And drinks with a classic chalk-and-citrus West Coast hit - this recipe predates all the NEIPA tomfoolery.
IBUs push this into DIPA territory despite a borderline ABV.
What’s ruining things, though, is a big blast of fusel alcohols. Now, we’re talking about airport tap beer, so all bets are off. But it’s not acetic or diacetyl, the two usual suspects for dirty lines.
Shame, because it’s masking the tropical that all the other reviews mention.
A proper, punchy IPA, otherwise, and a credit to Carton.

Poured into a narrow pilsner: color is gold, transparent, head presents 1+ fingers thick, is bright white with spotty lacing on the glass sides, leaves a solid top about 1/8 inch thick.

Smell is wonderful blend of potent hops - resinous blended with sweet/sour tropical fruits - notes of mango and grapefruit with the pithiness of the grapefruit rind; light, clean maltiness comes through with warmth.

Taste is where the malt really comes and shines with a light clean presence with light bread and honey then the hop blend of citrus and resinous with notes of mango and grapefruit pith.

Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, light/moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness.

Overall a great DIPA with clean malt and notable malt flavor and a great blend of resinous and citrus hop aroma and flavor.

Purchased from Carton Brewery about 5 weeks ago

A: Clear amber, soapy linkering head
S: Grapefruit peel, lemon
T: Grapefruit peel (surprise surprise), rye
M: Sharp, foamy, smooth
O: Its a solid beer for its style, west coast style AIPA. Good bitter notes, no off tastes, quite refreshing.

Flat and tasteless. Looking for an IPA? Don’t bother. You’ll get better spending half the price.

Looks of a light hazed version of a classic amber DIPA though the haze fades and the beer is pretty clear. The head doesn’t maintain the near two fingers of depth, but it doesn’t give up and leave, either. Nice lacing.

Nose is a light toasted malt with some orange marmalade, tangerine and orange pith. There’s also a mineral aspect showing up.

The mineral note comes up front with the orange/tangerine. The toasted cracker malt doesn’t put up much fight. A classic grapefruit pith bitterness grows and grows. It doesn’t completely overcome the mineral note, but it does push everything else aside, eventually.

The 80 IBU is in full effect with this beer. A fairly light heft to this at just under 8% could be dangerous if the bitterness didn’t slow you up a little bit.

A really refreshing beer for me after a couple of days of mostly dry-hopped hazy IPAs. Just a tad more malt presence and a little less of that metallic note would improve this beer.

Poured from a 16oz can into a Trillium IPA glass.

Look is a slightly hazy yellow with a frothy white head.

Aroma honey blossom floral with a light sweet biscuit malt.

Taste is a great mix of herbal bitter with a light sweet sugar cookie.

Such a goodbalanced IPA.

16 oz can. Pours hazy golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of citrusy hops, bready malt and tropical fruit. Body is full and crisp. Herbal hops dominate the palate with bready malt and tropical fruit in the background. Finish is long and very hoppy. Excellent brew.
