BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Carton Brewing Company
New Jersey, United States

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Like all things truly Jersey, 077XX makes the most in balancing through its accentuation of extremes. Inspired by the west coast IPAs we love, we added a thump of hops to a dynamic malt profile and chose a yeast to drive these two further than they wanted to go. Throw our water into this mix and you will find dank green resinous hops popping over orange, mango and papaya aromas, with just enough sweetness of body to make the long finish a pleasure to have around. Drink 0’Dub when your night matters.

Pours a mostly clear bronze color with a finger-and-a-half of lasting near-white foam. Heavy lacing.

Sweet malty smell up front, followed by some light pine resin and orange, then a distinct peppery note on the backend.

Maybe I'm spoiled by all the great DIPAs out there, but the taste is just sort of dull to me: dull caramel malts, a kiss of alcohol, a light bitterness. The part I like best is a flash or orange in the middle.

Medium to heavy bodied, very lightly syrupy, with a slight prickliness to the feel. Still comes a cross a little flat to my taste.

Fine overall, but not in the same league as many others available these day.

On tap, pours a clear yellow gold with a finger of dense white foam. Smell has lots of grapefruit, orange and tropical fruits, along with floral smells and some pine. Taste is similar, with an almost candy-like fruitiness. Solid bitterness and long lingering fruit finish. Great beer.

Poured from 16 oz. can dated 3/7/2017. Thanks to @sammyjaxxx for the can!

A: Clear sunshine yellow with smallish one finger white head. Short retention but leaving moderate lacing.

S: Pineapple, mango, and orange zest. Pine, fresh cut grass, and dank floral hops.

T: Big punch of dank floral hops with tons of tropical fruit. Pineapple, orange, and mango.

M: Medium body with average carbonation. Soft texture with a lightly bitter finish. Very easy drinking.

O: Outstanding DIPA. If this was in my distribution area, it would be a regular purchase.

Looks like a delicious golden amber hued IPA. Lots of tropical fruit going on. Tastes delicious and creamy. Very fresh tasting. Feels smooth and creamy, mildly slick. Really excellent take on the west coast IPA. Would highly recommend.

Poured into a snifter. A hazy orange color with a medium-sized white head. Nice lacing in the glass. Dark aroma mixed with orange, tropical fruit, and grass. The taste was dank and resiny with a blend of citrus and tropical fruit. The malt supported it well. Medium-bodied with a clean, bitter finish.

From a coworker. 16oz. can into a Surly teku.

Nose is citrus, pine and fresh grass with a dank, pulpy hop bitterness. Full and bright at the same time. Beer opens grapefruit, grass and bark. A very clean, astringent bitterness. Some light malty notes in the background but this one is clearly on the hoppy side. Bone dry and resiny sticky aftertaste. Pretty tasty. Body is light to medium with ample carbonation. Aggressive on the palate and quenching going down with a dry, sticky finish.

Well crafted and a welcome departure from the super juicy and malt and fruit forward NE IPAs that have been so popular recently.

Canned 4/7/16; drank 4/29/16 @ Locked Whispers.

Clear yellow appearance.

Minimal off-white head; minimal lace.

Tangerine, honey & spring water notes in the nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Tangerine & tart pineapple flavors up front; spring water notes on the finish. Simple but effervescent; pleasantly citrus forward. I'd have another...
