German restaurant and beer hall located in the mission area of downtown; was pretty stoked to try it out.
Restaurant area is upstairs with a giant beer hall downstairs, long tables to sit at. Sat at the restaurant area when I went, but definitively going to return to drink at the beer hall. Very German atmosphere overall with beerstien lockers and oompa bands.
Waitresses were nice and come around often to get orders, even when the restaurant was packed. (May want to book a reservation if you’re going on a weekend).
Good selection of beers, could be a larger but can't complain when you can get Stiegl and Erdinger on tap. The highlight is being able to get 2L Boots and 1 L Beersteins. Food was hit or miss, ordered the Schnitzel which was really small and tough. The chicken tasted really good though.
The biggest downfall is the price, the average food price is $25 and the giant beers are around $30 making it too expensive to frequent. But the boot is worth it despite the price.

WURST, one of the newest editions to the Calgary beer scene. I have to say I was excited to give it a try, and since it's opened I've been there a couple times. A brief review on the following aspects.
Atmosphere: Set-up with a retaurant on the upper level and a Bavarian beer hall on the lower level. Really hits it off with the beer hall with the long tables and the stein lockers for exclusive members. The waitresses dress up in Bavarian attire and the beer is readily flowing (into boots no doubt!) My only knock is that the beer hall is too dark for a beer hall and more light would make the place feel less clubby and more pubby.
Quality/Service: On both instances I've been there I've had 2 contrasting experiences. The first time for dinner was average service, a little slow at times, and I was given the wrong beer with my order (I ordered Erdinger... they gave me an Aydinger... reasonable mistake). The second time was in the beer hall and I have to say I never had any service from a 'beer maid' besides my inital beer order. It was a little disappointing to always have to go to the bar and wait in line for a drink.
Selection/Food/Price: WURST has a decent selection of german beers (and wines) as well as Canadian fare on tap. Their menu is full of german food, but at an overpriced cost for what you recieve. They offer beers in 1L and 2L stiens and 'boots' but you can only get Canadian beers in these volumes (kind of defeats the purpose getting a Keith's or Canadian in a boot). The german beers go anywhere between $9 - $18.50 depending on volume. Also, the average price for an appetizer was about $15 while a meal was about $23.
Decent place, fun for the occasional vist, and has a very cool beer haus atmosphere. Just need some work on the beer selection and the overall cost of visiting. Its too expensive to frequent on a consistent basis.
