Lightly sour aroma with caramel malt sweetness and a hint of smoke.

Tart in flavor, with bandaid smoke and vinous notes throughout. Apple emerges late.

Sanguine, laced foam. Molasses, lite funk, charcuterie. Lite bodied sour, smoked fine charcuterie finish. Really interesting

Hazy light mahogany to ruby in color, small beige head reduced to thick lacing pretty fast, even considering the big carbonation (pretty easy to hear from afar).
Tartness, really funky, fruity with faint cherries and dark berries, but rather vinegary, with a very clear leather note, almost a bit.. chemical. Green apple cider. Smoke and wood under it, with some oaky vanilla, a bit of peat, a strong wine note too.
Funky sour mash dominates the taste, with apple and grape vinegar, some red berry tartness, Morello cherries and zingy lemon rind. Gets "chewy" with some malts, multigrain crackers, a bit of sweetness (just a bit!) hinting some dried dark fruit (faint raisin and prune) and hay. Can't help it, but there's paint thinner in the taste, this beer is just that funky. Not sure if it's a good thing or bad. Really great wood notes to accompany the funk towards the finish, with straw, faint horseblanket, but really clear barrel notes, great oak, with a bit of the smoke creeping through. Dry, mildly bitter, begging for a new sip.
Light to medium body, but quite carbonated, with a fizz that fits along with the tartness. Aftertaste is mostly woody, tart, faint hints of red fruit and some lingering smoke.
Fits perfectly in the Flemish Old Brown style, tho with some tweaks and a nice (if not underwhelmed) smokey note. It's nice, but it does have a share of off notes and, personally, i expected some more... innovation. Still, great stuff.

750 ml bottle. Served in a Unibroue tulip, the beer pours a reddish/brown color with about a half inch light tan head that fizzles away quickly. There isn't much lacing. The brew smells like tart cherry, smoked malt/meats, plum, oak, earthiness, and a bit of vanilla. It tastes like smoked malt/meat, plums, tart cherry, red wine/grapes, oak, vanilla, citrus peel and some vinegar. I think each sip starts off smoky, and then the tartness kicks in. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Overall I liked this brew, I enjoyed the smoky/tart combination. It's a unique brew, and definitely worth a try!
