Sultry, savory and smoky, Against the Grain's latest attempt at mad science lands them at the flavors of smoked brisket, port, peat, honey, spice and an overall boggish aura- and yes, we're still talking about beer.
Raucho Man Brandy Savage pours with the tawny golden appearance that's common to brandy and honey while those notions reign true also in aroma. Sweetened scotch whisky notes are candied with grape, caramel and savory smoked meat undertones. With the fragrant perfume of maduro cigar, port and booze tickling the nose, the flavors open sweet and smoky.
Sweet, smoky and earthy, the bulk of taste is robust and lavish is savory malt to take on proportions of caramel and honey. Port and peppery brandy offer a taste that's tangy and of peppercorn. The earthiness of the bog offers hints of tobacco and saline while a cloud of smoked meat casts its savory shadow over the entire session.
Finishing sweet and peppery, the beer's scotch character suggests a dry and ashy closure but its sweetness is reflective of port and barleywine. With a body that's relaxed and much more moderate, the smoke character will prove favorable to the most staunch of rauchbier fans- a highly specific beer drinking audience.

Aroma is sweet and boozy, with big brandy notes upfront, and a smoked meat undertone.
Flavor is very sweet and boozythroughout, with a salty initial note that can't balance the sweet and a smoky, meaty finish that lingers. Too sweet.
