Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Walk up to the bar and what do you ask for? A Beer, naturally. It doesn't always matter what it is, or what you want in this case. You want something light? We've got A Beer for you. You want something hop forward? We've got A Beer for you. You just want to camp out on that bar stool and crush something? We've got ABeer for you. We're only marginally apologetic that it's not kettle soured with Mosaic & Amarillo hops. This is better. This is a straight forward, refreshing extra pale ale utilizing the newest varieties of German aroma hops (Hallertau Blanc & Mandarina Bavaria). Call it a session IPA if you need, call it a pale ale if you prefer, hell, it doesn't matter what you call it, what matters is that you stop talking about it and throw ABeer down yer gullet.

Tall can

Pour with a moderate haze, typical khaki cap, leaves low sheeting and ringed lacing.

Zesty, lemony nose.

Crisp and tasty, light citrus, crackery malts...decent session type ale...worth a try...went well with some chedder and crackers

16 ounce can, bought this on a recent trip to Louisville a few weeks ago. No dating on it that I was able to find. Drank my other cans when I was there, and I saved my last can for a proper review. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy gold color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells mostly like citrusy (citrus peel, grapefruit) and grassy hops, along with some bready malt. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma too, but there's also some earthy herbalness noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's a bit slick with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this American Pale Ale, I'd like to try this one again. $9.99 a 4-pack.

Served 39F from the 16 ounce can into a 12 ounce tulip. No canning or packaging dates. Purchased cold.

Light golden orange, filtered, clarified.

The nose is really pleasant here. Fruity estery hops with notes of grapefruit, orange and then a nice malty scent right behind that.

Stale? Retail mishandling? The taste just doesn't mesh with the nose somehow. It's kind of sour, like sour or stale malts. Stressed yeast. The malts also taste cheap.

Texture is nice here. Clean lacing, and minimalist carbonation. just the right body for a pale.

Much better choices out there I think. Perhaps this is old product, or had too many temperature changes and and the yeast crapped out. either way, this doesn't taste so great. I probably could have avoided wasting my money on this ale if there had been a canning date somewhere on the packaging. Even a measly price gun sticker on the 4 pack yolk would suffice. Especially given the price of Against The Grain products.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high frothy white head that died down, leaving a large patch patch of bubbles on the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of floral hops and mangos are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and also has some hints of lemon and orange citrus along with a light to moderate amount of hop bitterness.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer goes down very easily and can be considered sessionable. The hops contribute just enough in the way of aromas and flavors.

Pours a a slight hazed yellow/orange color with a fresh thin white head. Smell is grain with citrus and white fruit hops . Taste follows the nose slight citrus hops with a grain and bread malt finish. Medium carbonation with light floral hops and very little bitterness. An unremarkable brew its drinkable but would not buy this one again.

This seems to be the most carbonated drink I’ve ever had and just seemed to taste like what regular old bud would taste like when said and done

20 oz Imperial Pint glass.
Pours thin, golden, with a very light haze.
Smells like an IPA, with a mellow orange-grapefruit aroma. Tastes like an APA, but for this low ABV, it has a lot of bang going for it. The hop is rather mild, the orange-grapefruit subdued, and there is a mild bready taste in the background. This drinks thick.. one of the thickest I've encountered. Low carbonation, low bitterness, and smooth throughout.

I've had this beer in multiple sessions 3 times now. All 3 times, I've had the same vibe.. a very good APA with lots of flavors that don't disappoint, or make my nose twitch. The rising cost of this beer, keeps it from being my go-to beer.
