This barrel-aged ale uses the stable ingredients barley, rye, and corn plus cherry wood smoked malt to create a hue imperial stout. To top it all off, we barrel-age it for three Kentucky months! The result of this Bo & Luke variant is rich and complex Imperial Smoked Stout with hints of chocolate and vanilla.
It beats all you ever saw.

Abysmal. Taste like roasted aspartame and im not even joking.
Bo and luke was once a top 5 beer of mine. I loved previous years variants but when they went to the cans something all changed. I've gone from trading to acquire these beers to dumping them down my drain. Ya'll fucked up ATG.

1 PINT can
Served in a can glass
This beer pours black and is topped with a fleeting mocha head that leaves no trace.
I get smoke right off the bat. I get some chocolate and roasted malt.
Smokey flavor. Almost acrid. I get some dark chocolate and anise. I thought I got some pie flavors for a brief second. It mainly tastes like the base beer to me.
Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
I have trouble finding the elements that make this the "sweet potato pie" variety. I love sweet potato pie. The base beer, especially the smokiness, overwhelm much else in this beer. Solid beer. It's just lacking certain elements for my untutored palate.

The yearly addition to the Bo & Luke imperial smoked stout lineup lands on sweet potato pie as a fall favorite set of flavors layer on the robust stout for a savory, roasty and smooth sipping affair.
As its rich and lusciously black pour settles in the glass, its onyx-like sheen sheds a deep mocha froth and a host of spicy, roasty, chocolaty and whisky laden scents with subtle sweetness of baked yams close at hand. Sweet once on the tongue, a rounded malt profile of caramel, toffee and light molasses meet the taste of stewed sweet potato and vanilla in true candied form.
As the aggressive roast starts to outweigh the sweetness, notions of turkish coffee, baker's chocolate and chicory spice pull from the grit of rye, whisky and wood. Smoky in its overcast, the session soon looses its sweet potato focus and the sharper edges of grain, oak and ash bring a spicy, almost chemical, bitterness that has a closure not for the faint of heart.
Full bodied, spicy and heated, the stout finishes peppery, boozy and prickling when the trifecta of smoke, bitterness and alcohol hit the back of the throat at the same time.
