A: Pours a clear, ruddy amber with a creamy, thick white head.
S: Aromas of caramel, toffee, heavy cream, blood orange, dark bread, and lemon are present on the nose.
T: Notes of caramel, toffee, heavy cream, dark bread, herbs, vanilla, brown butter, peach, apricot, lemon, grapefruit, and blood orange wash across the palate. The finish is smooth and rich with caramel, cream, herb, apricot, and blood orange flavors.
M: Medium-to-full in body, but closer to the latter than the former. Very smooth, silky, and creamy on the palate. Not dry at all. Carbonation is very gentle.
O: This is a pretty standard American strong ale, so if you're already familiar with the style, The Prophet's Gravy really offers nothing all that new. It is, however, a very solid, approachable take on the style that I could see being great for those just beginning to take the plunge into stronger ale styles. In the end, it is a likable ale, but is not the brewery's best offering.
