Served in a tulip glass at McGee's.

Breakin' the Law of traditional recipes with the use of rye malt (20% of the grist bill) in this dubbel. It pours a partly hazy topaz topped by a finger of khaki foam. The nose comprises toffee, bread, light Belgian yeast, and light orange rind. The taste holds notes of toffee, vinyl, flat pine resin, burnt sourdough, and a light bit of Belgian yeast. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, I didn't care all that much for this beer. I think the use of rye is a cool idea, but things just didn't taste very good to me. Hopefully this was jut a bad batch or something, 'cause I'd like to see the recipe succeed in the future.
