A: From the growler, this ale pours an attractive orange-tinged gold with a thick, fizzy white head that dies away completely within a minute.
S: Aromas of coriander, salt, and wheat hit the nose hard. This is definitely a proper gose. Once the initial surge of coriander, salt, and wheat dies away, subtle traces of lime, lemon, minerals, grass, straw, and lactobacillus are detectable.
T: Notes of coriander, salt, and wheat (predictably) hit hard on the palate, but are underscored by minerals, must, unripened pineapple, carambola, lemon, lime, grass, and straw. The finish sees the initial surge of wheat, coriander, and salt return, with the salt in particular lingering on the palate.
M: Light in body, firm, and dry. Carbonation is very spritzy, though it settles down just before the fade. Incredibly easy to drink.
O: This is a very nice attempt at a true gose. The use of Himalayan pink salt was a nice touch, as it provides an intense salt flavor without being too distracting. My only gripes are that the head retention could be a little better and the carbonation could be a bit firmer, though I suspect being in the growler may have something to do with this. Overall, this is a really nice little ale. It would be great to drink on a hot day.
