I don't consider myself a connoisseur but this beer stood out on the flight I chose while at the brewery. The most outstanding quality, of which there are many, was that it finished without a trace of bitterness. I am puzzled by two other reviewers calling this "sessionable". My understanding of that term is that it refers to a beer that is 3.5-4% ABV. At 6.2% this can hardly be called sessionable. If you tried to treat this as such a beer you would be under the table. Have two bottles at a sitting at most, and take your time.

Deep dark chocolate black / brown with a parchment coloured creamy head. Aroma: Roasted coffee, bakers chocolate. Flavour adds nuts, dark fruits. Complex but still approachable, sessionable.

Purchased direct from brewery/bottle shop on a big day out at Toronto's indie breweries with the girlfriend.

Chalkboard listing beers on offer had this to say about this brew : "Get it or regret it". Was more than happy to oblige.

Truth be told, I'm a bit over porters in general -- too many over the years, well into sours, etc. but this is one fine beer! Absolutely bang on for the style--nothing's OTT.

Sessionable, refreshing and complex.

Pours a muddied brown color. Frothy dark tan colored head of a solid finger, whimsical lacing. Aroma isn't too in your face (or nose, rather), but there's nice hints of bakers chocolate, roast, candied raisins and some mild roasted coffee. Tastes of dark chocolate and roasted almonds, some dark malt, espresso and candied figs, giving it a slightly sugary finish. Body was an appropriate medium, with a subtle silkiness and modest carbonation.

A very solid, and tasty porter. Doesn't push boundaries, but makes itself out to be a well crafted, sessionable porter that would appeal to many.

Thanks Chris!
