A 330ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2018. Purchased recently from Lidl. The label is mostly in Romanian, but mentions something about 300 years of tradition (1718-2018).

A: Poured into a pilsner glass. A crystal-clear golden colour with moderate carbonation. Forms a decent head of frothy white foam that lasts for a moment before collapsing and dissipating.

S: Aroma of light malt with subtle hints of grain, faint stewed leaves and a twinge of overdone veg. OK but very bland.

T: Tastes of very pale malt with notes of faint grain, subtle stewed hops and a touch of cardboard in the background. Very dry, followed by a delicate bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with prickly carbonation and decent body for the style. Quite thin but that is no surprise. Mildly astringent. Aftertaste of mild stewed hops, faint grainy malt and a twinge of veg.

O: A clean if rather dull lager. Looks OK; shame about the head. Aroma and flavour are bland and inoffensive. Light, watery body. Drinkable enough but fails to excite the senses; strictly for hot weather refreshment.

I am drinking the "original" premium pils, which the site says is "retired." Others appear to be reviewing this beer here so here ya go... At first I thought I had bought an old skunked bottle, but the drink by date is still months away. Unpleasant smell, flat feel, stale unexciting taste. Not a huge fan of pilsners, but this is not a good example. It is billed as Romania's "first" beer...perhaps they should stick with gymnastics.

Poured from a brown 13.5 oz. bottle. My first 13.5 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, honey. Taste is malts, green apples, a bit of grains. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall, it's refreshing, drinkable, but nothing worth seeking out.

Poured from a pint bottle...

Appearance: Pours a clear crystal yellow with a strong 3 finger fluffy head; quickly dissipating. Fluff lacing all around the glass. Beautiful carbonation rushing to the head.

Smell: Grain, corn, malt, mild hops.

Taste: Simple - heavily grained with a mild hop balance.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and refreshing. A standard European beer here with not much motivation outside of century old tradition.

Overall: Basic by all means. Solid quality beer but nothing enthusiastic about it.

Straw gold, sticky white cap of fluffy foam on top, about a finger's width. First thing I notice is the pungent noble hop aroma. Grassy and green. The foam manages to stick around for the duration of the glass, after a deliberate pour down the center of the pint glass. Thick ring of foam adheres to the inside rim. Bright clarity, no visible yeast sediment.

Crackery, dry, crisp feel. Pilsner malt, dried apple, with a very dry saltine cracker taste. Snappy carbonation gives it some bite, but seems a little watery in the aftertaste. Very subtle euro lager with a clean, simple flavor that is very quenching. Would be great in hot summer weather. Simplicity is underrated.

Clear gold with almost two fingers of five minute head. Some lace.
Smell is malt sweetness some grain bin.
Taste is crisp bitter then swerves into malt sweetness. Noble hops.
Mouthfeel is close to medium with good carbonation. Finish lightly dry and mildly bitter.
Overall an alright euro lager. Mine was past the best by date about four months. I assume it would have tasted better when fresh.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a massive two finger high bright white head that has excellent retention properties and left lots of lacing running down the sides of the glass.
S: There are light to moderately strong aromas of adjunct malts in the nose—corn and grain seem to stand out in particular—along with some hints of skunkiness.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has flavors of corn and grainy malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This smell and taste of this beer seem to be very similar to other American Adjunct Lagers and aren’t very notable.

Nose pretty cool, recalling the Czech pilseners. The mouth is slightly stronger than the models of their kind, including the first entry. The key is also more alcohol - which is strange for a beer of this ABV - but hops are also dirtier. Body midway between sweet and grassy. Finish still pretty weak and bland but always with the presence of grass.

Never tried a Romanian beer before.

Looks and tastes fairly standard, average euro lager, nothing special, could session on it though.

The bottle and label are pretty cool.

Check it out! The Romanians can make the same, decent tasting, yet uninteresting pale lager as everyone else! It's not bad. It's not great.

Actually, I think it'd go great with sushi, although I don't believe that's native to Romania. A crisp, clean, drinkable, boring lager.

The only reason I'm reviewing it is because this is the first Romanian beer under my belt.
