You could knock the place for the vibe - but it's more a working brewery than a bar or taproom. There's a big open warehouse, cans of beer stacked as high as the eye can see, and a small sitting area. I enjoyed the hell out of a gin barrel aged saison on their menu. I don't see it listed on BA. Suffering Bastard is what it was called. Neat brewery.

I went to Hilliard's for the first time yesterday and I was not at all disappointed. First, I love the interior: quasi-industiral and quasi-nautical, with lots of thin white boards and a run-down but fixed-up feel. Furnishings include concrete benches and the types of tables and chairs you might find in a suburban garage man cave. I dig it.

Service was friendly enough; the guys there seem to know their beer. Of the beers I tried, two were barrel-aged concoctions (one a saison in oak and another a porter in fino sherry casks) and were fantastic. I would definitely return here to try some of their brewery offerings -- plus, beers are only 4 bucks! What a steal!

I love Hilliard's. Their tasting room is in the brewpub, and you can't beat that in my opinion. Product as fresh as can be. Love the feel of being in the brewery while drinking the beer. The taplist is the beers they brew, four taps and four canned selections. No food, but good value. Great place to check out.

A: We strolled in here after leaving NW Peaks. A big open warehouse area with some tables and chairs at the entrance. A counter with a small bar area with six seats or so with a cooloer for cans to go. The wide open area and location provides a great place to sit and chat while having a brew. With street traffic, patrons coming in and out and staff at work it's really not that stale of a place. I think they are pretty relaxed on pets as well.

Q: Most beers I have had from Hilliards ranges from average to good. No complaints from my visit today, nor did my sidekicks and we each had something different. My Chrome Satan California Common was rather refreshing.

S: Not bad. No major complaints. They all did their job. Bring me beer and answer questions.

S: About six selections if I recall. Most Hilliards beers are sessionable so you wont be finding any BBN RIS here.

Sweet warehouse spot in the industrial lower end of Ballard

The interior is quite the site - your eyes immediately gravitate to palates stacked upon palates of craft cans ascending into the sky. there are some tables and a little room at the bar, but the room feels much bigger than the seating capacity.

Much like Fremont Brewing, it's an industrial working-brewery interior, so in the winter, it's a little chilly inside but thats part of the appeal. They have a working beer vending machine, so thats pretty awesome.

Not much in the way of beer yet - a few canned options, the amber and the saison, with sweet retro design and pretty decent elixir inside. Hard to put a finger on it, but this is the kind of place i like to fiscally support.

They don't have a kitchen but they do have regularly scheduled food trucks on site, and not just standard stuff - the cream of the crop. Skillet, Snout & Co and Where Ya at Matt aren't just good food trucks, they are absolutely wonderful dining options in general. Check the website/twitter for schedules, but this is a HUGE drawing point in my book.
