Cola colored with a big, airy, tan head.

Huge aroma of ginger. Maybe some nutmeg, spruce, all spice. Intense spicing here.

The taste is light smooth malt with another huge blast of ginger and spices. They almost burn the back of the throat. There's a very slight hop bitterness on the backend, but otherwise a lightly sweet, with an almost Christmas cake thing going in aftertaste along with lingering ginger spices.

Light to medium bodied with good carbonation.

The ginger may be strong for some, but they do a great job of getting cakey malt notes in there, too. Not a bad gimmicky beer.

Black with brown edges held up to light. Head faded away quickly with light lacing.

Nose of gingerbread, cinnamon and allspice.

Chocolate, vanilla and gingerbread taste with cinnamon. Alcohol not well hid. I've had 10 -11% IPAs and stouts with less noticeable alcohol.

Fuller bodied. Kind of chewy mouthfeel.

This would be a really awesome beer if the alcohol was less noticeable. It adds to the mouthfeel but detracts from the taste.

Canned on 10/12/14.

A - An aggressive pour into an imperial pint glass yields a thick, billowing head of tan foam. The color is black with clear brownish hues when held up to light. Some rings of lacing cling to the glass.

S - Gingerbread cookie, graham cracker, holiday spices, star anise, and roasty, acidic burnt malts are nicely complimented by a high alcohol content.

T - Sweet graham cracker crust, heavy ginger spice, holiday spices, and a mildly bitter roast character backed by a strong, warming alcohol presence. The finish is incredibly dry, due to the hefty spice content. A lingering cookie sweetness redeems the pronounced booziness.

M - Medium body with a great level of carbonation. Slightly chewy and slick. Very viscous.

O - Nice to see a Los Angeles brewery produce a gingerbread stout, seeing as we don't exactly have a winter season in Southern California. I don't mind the big alcohol presence, as I prefer my holiday beers to be massive. A must try and a great beer to bring to a Christmas party. Seek this out.

Canned 10/14/14.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, gingerbread, and lots of Christmas spice aromas. Taste is much the same with gingerbread, speculoos, and Christmas spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has a nice mix of gingerbread, speculoos, and spices that come together slightly better in the smell to me, especially as the beer warms up.

Serving type: can.

No thank you. Tastes like coke. Mouthfeel is way to bubbly. Doesn't taste like a stout at all. Alcohol and weird bitterness. One of very few beers I've ever poured out. I'd rather eat a bite of gingerbread and take a swig of Old Rasputin.

I will start by saying that my brother lasted about 3 drinks and myself 4 before pouring this out.

It was a thin, brownish black with little to no head.

It smelled like metal and ginger and nothing else bit maybe plastic.

Not surprisingly, it tasted the same. Lots of ginger. Like if you were trying to add some to a pot and accidentally spilled half of the container. Also a cola like flavor amongst the aluminum.

Very thin bodied. A little bit of crisp/fizzy carbonation. Watery feel.

I would hope that this was infected, but there is no way on even a good day that it is a double/imperial stout either. One of the worst 3 beera I have rated since joining Ba

Appearance: Black with a low tan head.

Smell: Slight cinnamon, roasted malts, and yeast smell.

Taste: Reminds me of a pumpkin ale. Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg?) up front with a slightly sour, yeasty flavor. Into a mellow roasted malt backbone. Very little bitterness or alcohol taste.

Mouthfeel: Moderately thick with low carbonation.

Overall: Not a bad stout, although it reminds me more of a strong winter-warmer than a double. Would be good if it were thicker and had a stronger base malt flavor.

Pretty tasty brew. Smells and tastes of nutmeg, cinnamon and holiday spices. Ill agree with another reviewer that the alcohol is not well hidden but i actually enjoy it and find a bit of booze to be a nice compliment to the holiday spice flavors.
