Canned 10/14/14.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, gingerbread, and lots of Christmas spice aromas. Taste is much the same with gingerbread, speculoos, and Christmas spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has a nice mix of gingerbread, speculoos, and spices that come together slightly better in the smell to me, especially as the beer warms up.

Serving type: can.

16 ounce can into snifter, canned on 9/28/2016. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, light coffee/molasses, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice notes; with great strength. Pretty strong on the spices in the aromas, but not too overwhelming. Taste of huge ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, light coffee/molasses, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spice and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, toasted brown bread, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, lightly sticky, and slightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is a very good spiced imperial stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and spice flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Powerful spice aromas, but more balanced in the taste. This is still very perfumey/vibrant on spices either way. A very unique, but very enjoyable offering.

16 oz can with a 28 Sept. 2016 date stamp, consumed on 26 Dec. 2016.

Pours essentially opaque with fine ruby highlights when held to the light. Moderate size tan head with decent retention and some lacing.
The aroma is ginger and gingerbread, and slightly medicinal. The flavor is a bit more balanced but still enough ginger to dominate, but not mask, the malts and produce a mild effect (bite) on the mouthfeel. Well hidden ABV.

Overall: recommended only if you like gingerbread.

Liquid gingerbread and is too sweet for me.

PKG ON 9/30/2016.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, blackish body with ruby-tinted edges and capped with a 3/4-inch head of rapidly deflating beige foam.

Smell: Ginger, cinnamon and a licorice-tinged star anise with a bit of washed coffee and roast.

Taste: Initial pop of ginger powder, anise and cinnamon with cola, low-grade chocolate. Alright, I've got the spiced gingerbread taste, which holds through the finish, but it's on top of a very bare, rather hollow stout, both in body and character.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium-low carbonation. Nearingly watery.

Overall: Again, it suffers to much from a very underwhelming, lacking base beer.

Pours a black color. One inch head of an off-tan color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of strong ginger, sweet malt, alcohol, hint of caramel malt, and cinnamon. Fits the style of an American Double / Imperial Stout. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong ginger, sweet malt, alcohol, hint of roasted malt, slight caramel malt, wheat, and slight cinnamon. Overall, good appearance, mostly spices, sharp, but decent otherwise.

Poured from a tall boy into a shaker pint, the beer is a brownish-black coloring, thin on the pour, with a wispy, light tan head. Aromas of gingerbread, cinnamon, sugary highlights, subtle vanilla, and hints of coffee. Flavors are heavily roasted, with deep coffee backbone flavors overpowering the ginger spice, sweet vanilla and molasses notes, and subtle spice blends of cinnamon and nutmeg. Thin, slick bodied, with a ginger, vanilla, and coffee heavy aftertaste. The finish is slick, light, and crisp. Good flavors, but the lack of balance and the thin feel seemed out of place for me.

Poured a black body with two-finger offwhite head. Gingerbread cookie but mostly just ginger in aroma. Whilst having a good ginger almost gingerbread sweetness, it's a beer with a rather thin and flimsy mouthfeel bordering on watery and seems to have one good flavor and the rest is flat.

16oz can poured into a nonic
(A)- Pitch black with a creamy off-white head of froth. Good retention and lacing
(S)- Lots of ginger met with a bready yet nutty hazelnut/cocoa combo. Quite creamy with a big vanilla kick. Faint whiffs of molasses
(T)- Quite similar to the smell. Not overly sweet, but big on ginger, molasses, and a hazelnut-like nutty creaminess
(M)- Good carbonation level and balance. Not overly sweet yet the creaminess helps cut the richness this has
(O)- A solid stout with added nuances from the ginger. The name fits this well

Doesn't even resemble a stout in the slightest. Smells and tastes like carbonated cough syrup. Drain pour. Fail.
