Hoppy and refreshing, Wolf Pup is our riff on a Session IPA. Highly drinkable with a wildly aromatic tropical and citrus character, it’s the perfect companion to keep on sippin’ for those long, sunny days.

Six pack from Jackson’s. Pale golden, slight haze, sparse bubbly head. Aroma is tropical fruit, mangos, melon and citrus. Taste, while still sweet, adds a fine layer of grains/malts. Nice feel, but also fades fast. Another beauty of a summer beer.

This beer pours a hazy orange /yellow color with a significant head and great head retention. The aroma is hoppy with significant pineapple undertones. The primary taste is that of pineapple and is nicely bitter. As is the case with many session beers. the taste is somewhat watered-down.

October 6th, 2016 - Enjoyed asa break from the screaming patrons at Great Wolf Lodge, this is a sweeter brew with a layer of orange candy in the aroma. The body is mild (as expected) with a quenching effect and enough carbonation to keep the beer feeling active and interesting. Mild tropical notes lead the flavor, mainly manifesting as guava and passion fruit, but both are very mild. Not bad for a cheap and accessible beer.

Hazy pale gold color with a small white head that retreats to just a ring fairly quickly but does leave bits of lace.
The aroma is bread, citrus and pine resin.
The taste follows the aroma, fresh bread, grapefruit, lemon, passion fruit, pine resin with a bit of grassy finish.
The body is light, fairly smooth.
Altogether it lives up to it's name - session IPA, It's light, has a medium bitterness setting off some fruit sweetness, not bad for cooling off on a hot day.

Lemon yellow and hazy in the appearance. Slight one finger of a pretty dense head of white. Head has settled a bit to a nice little topper. Nice glass lacing.

Smell is of citrus. Some body but mostly the pith of the citrus. A hint of pine resin. Very bright on the smell.

Taste does not hold back much. Up front with the citrus pith and a bit of bitterness. Also getting a bit of sweet from the citrus. Mid tongue more bitter and than a nice calming of the pith bitter at the back of the mouth. The taste just has a slight linger to it. Like a nice IPA than soothing down to a pale ale type of beer.

Mouth is fairly light and the finish is like a crisp pucker. Than that faint ghost of the beer on the back of the throat.

Tastes like an IPA up front. Nice and bold. Yet middle of the road seems to shift gears and start to calm down. Up front, bold, than a tamer beer followed by that crisp pop with the bitter at the end. The malt balance seems to be very on with this beer.. If you like the IPA style but want a "session" IPA with a little less horse power this may work for you. Cheers!

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Hazy golden color, with about a finger's worth of head. Decent retention and lacing.

Aroma: lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, other citrus notes, pineapple, mango, peach, apricot, berries, dark fruit, bubblegum, and floral notes.

Really tasting lemon and other zests from the citrus notes, along with the tropical notes complimenting the sweetness of all the fruits together. Floral and aromatic too. Little bit of a malty backbone too. Essentially follows the aroma. Body is medium-light.

If a session IPA doesn't taste good during a mid-summer in Philadelphia, it's not going to. The temperature has been in the 90's Fahrenheit for days and the humidity has been brutal, at over 80%. So, it was out of characterly ordered by a pint from a tap. It doesn't look like a lightweight, for it's an opaque orange-amber with a lovely and enduring white head, which is leaving some nice glass lacing. As much smell of malt and hops detected in some heavy hitters is noticed here. The taste is, not surprisingly, a little short on the malt, but the hop bittering is very pleasant. Overall, a very drinkable brew, with just enough hoppy presence to satisfy most IPA lovers. The lightness of the malt does effect the mouthfeel, running it a bit to the light side, but not objectionably so. In short, there is enough IPA goodness here that it would make this a good option any time of the year. That is, anytime you want to lighten things up a bit.
