12 oz. can - Best enjoyed by 12/16/2019 stamped on bottom:
Poured into HW glass:

Pours clouded golden yellow with an orange tint. The white head descends a bit too quickly. Some trailing lace slides down the glass with some stickage.

Some banana, subtle orange. slight clove.

The taste is of banana/clove - rather mild. Subtle orange. Wheat tang in the finish. Finishes more like an APWA.

On the thinner side, but it holds together.

To me, it's more of a HW inspired APWA, but nice for that. Pretty mild, but pretty pleasant. Nice enough, inoffensive, but nothing particularly special at all, IMO.

This beer smelled of citrus but not very strongly. The taste was not very strong. Overall this was barely a step above run of the mill stuff, it might as well have just been a blank can that said “Beer” on it.

On draft at LAX.

Cloudy golden orange with scant head. Loved the aroma: very consistent with style. Taste was a bit lacking but the citrus notes were nice. Refreshing.

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell strong of bananas, some cloves. Taste is wheat, banana, cloves, highly refreshing. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a good quality beer worth trying.

It was one of my buddy's favorites.

Really drinkable light beer. The smell is banana and cloves and as well as the taste. For some reason it reminded of sweet corn.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp with good carbonation.

Overall nice experience. Would have it again.

This is a very drinkable beer, maybe a little lighter overall than I expected from a Hef. Had a good aroma punch with a lot of...clove? A good body and punch going in, but it faded a bit quicker on the tongue than I was ready for. If your're in L.A., this is a good general-purpose beer that won't overwhelm a meal.

Light clear golden color poured aggressively out of 12oz can into Schneider Weisse glass, very little head with lacing. Sweet pleasantly yeasty smell. Initial mild bitterness followed by strong clove and finishes with a touch of banana and has little aftertaste. Almost sessionably light taste, good hefe and I love that it's local to me in LA.

Pours light straw color. 1 finger of head that dissipates quickly.

Aroma is very tame. A little honey sweetness, tad bit of cloves, and banana.

Taste is rather weak, but I guess that is to be expected at such a low abv. I get the classic banana and clove but with a touch of lemon. While the flavors are there, they are mellow and a bit weak. Rather watery feel.

Overall, the beer is easy drinking but nothing special. I paid 1.99 for the can, which is definitely not worth the price. I'm pairing it with a spice-rubbed steak and salad with chipotle ranch. It gets a 68.5/100.

Poured this out of a 16oz can. Pours a dense, hazy deep yellow/tan. Kind of looks like if you mixed orange juice with a smidge of coffee. The prominent aroma is yeast and clove. Unfortunately, no banana. Taste is fairly subdued with a hard carbonated bite. Clove commons through, but little else. As a lover of the style, I was a bit disappointed; It was just okay.

I always compare any hefeweizen to Paulaner. Enough said. Good head, a little loose. Citrusy aroma. Tangy wheat taste up front, clove taste when you let it engulf your whole tongue. Very refreshing and drinkable. It appears as though I must elaborate profusely in order to have BA accept my review. That said, I like it very, very, very much.

A-Golden tangerine with vibrant white foam out of the can.

S-Soft banana

T-Banana and lemon citrus.

M-Creamy texture with good length on the finish. My favorite part of the beer.

O-Not bad, best during a warm day. Not terribly remarkable however.

Consumed on March 20th, 2013 at the Golden Road Brewpub.

Beer is a cloudy light yellow-orange with a two finger head. Some lacing. Head becomes a little white foam cap before too long.

Melanoidin smells: cloves and bananas and a dash of honey.

Flavor: Wheat tang up front. Soft and the tiniest bit powdery. Bananas and cloves are present but not nearly as pronounced on the palate as in the nose. Flavor is actually slightly watery overall with a fleeting dash of bitterness.

Mouthfeel is average for the style: medium bodied with detectable carbonation.

Disappointing, since the aroma promised a good time. This one is way more nose than mouth.

I caught the end of a keg so it might be a tainted review.

BUT ice cold at the LMU Loft on-campus bar.

a- opaque and thick orange/ yellow color

s- no good, kind of rank

t- very banana, malty and smooth but a little stale and noticeable sediment

m- very bubbly, not great for a light beer

o- so so drink. I think if I had a cold fresh tap I would have enjoyed it more but. Its only redeeming quality was the strong banana taste, and I don't really care about that.

A - Pours a cloudy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some light lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of wheat and grainy malts, lemon zest, orange and citrus hops, banana, clove, coriander.

T - Starts off with a mix of sweet wheat with some orange and lemon zest. Through the middle, the banana and clove yeast character come through with a touch of coriander and hop character. The finish is a mix of sweet grainy malts with orange, lemon zest, banana, and clove.

M - Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and yeasty finish.

D - Very drinkable. Good overall balance with good sessionability and yeast character.

Appearance: Pours a hazy honey color; the head was decent but not nearly solid enough for the style; a few strands of lace hung around afterwards

Smell: Juicy Fruit gum; sugary banana and clove

Taste: Very herbal, up front, with cloves, sweet Juicy Fruit and loads of sugar complementing the banana; somewhat grainy in the back

Mouthfeel: Medium body with prickly carbonation; lacks a creamy character

Overall: A rather unusual stab at the style; overly sweet and lacks the strong sense of banana that I seek in the style

Thanks, Madirish76, for the opportunity

A: Pours a cloudy light brownish orange color with a thin white head. Looks a lot like unfiltered apple juice.

S: I wouldn't call the smell large, but there's something there to be found. Some powdery yeast notes, slight banana bread, bubblegum, orange zest and some bready malts.

T: Citrus notes upfront. Orange and some faint lemon are first. Then a lot of malt breadiness with some yeast present as well. Finish is a touch weak with a bit of white pepper and lemon zest. Not a terrible hef, but nothing outstanding.

16oz can poured into large tulip - thanks to gcphilli

Pours a clouded straw yellow with golden tones. Fluffy white head retains for a while before dissolving into some cloudy film with a few spots of lacing left behind.

A bit funky and yeasty in the nose with some must. Lemon and orange peel with spice and pepper.

A bite of spice with a snap of floral hops up front. Clove and lemon peel with some juicy orange. Slightly funky yeast with wheat and biscuit malts. Finishes a little spicy and citrusy.

Lighter medium body, slightly higher carbonation, dry and lingering on the tongue. This was alright, but the funkiness got a little much after about halfway through.

Poured from a pint can into a smaller glass at the Courtyard Marriott in Culver City, Calif. About a finger of head. Color was orange straw. Noticed a bunch of bubbles right away. Light white frothy lacing that went away fairly quickly. Light and sporadic film on the sides.

Potent smell of citrus wheat hops right up front, first orange, then lemon. Also got some banana malts. Some wheat and grass in there. Got the Circus Peanuts at the end.

Tasted very much like the smell. Got that orange and lemon citrus notes up front, but nicely balanced. Not so much a hefeweizen, but more of a wheat beer. A bit disappointed in the aftertaste though. It starts out so well, then just kind of fades out to a watery finish.

Light-to-medium body. Thin, watery texture. Heavily carbonated. Abrupt, watery finish.

A decent beer that started out with such promise. That being said, the smell and initial taste were both pretty good. It might be worth another try.

Canned on 04/26/2012. Tulip glass.

A: Pours a cloudy light gold color with a thin cap of white head which recedes almost immediately. A bit of lacing.

S: Lots of banana and malt with a hint of citrus.

T: Grainy malt and a little clove. The banana is there but doesn't come through as much.

M: Medium body and low carbonation. A little more carbonation would add some crispness.

O: Pretty easy to drink, good enough flavors.

Local Hefeweizen. I CAN dig that. On to the beer:

A darker tone of yellow shines in the glass despite a cloudy body. On top is a white head that retains itself pretty well and leaves some good spots of lace around the glass. The nose is acceptable, and it has a little of that traditional German character. Sweet malted wheat, nuts, and tocuhes of banana make their way to the nose. So far, this looks reaosnable.

No, it's not the most flavorful hefeweizen my palate has come across, but it's not complaining. Wheat malt base, good, a little fruity, good, and a little spicy, good. Its carbonation is smooth with a tiny tickle of bubbles.

Both of Golden Road's canned good (the other being "Point the Way") have shown to be reasonable options at reasonable prices. We're gonna give this a thumbs up.

Great looking can and great looking beer inside.
Pours amber, surprisingly dark for an American hef. Thick offwhite head.
The aromas are thinner than the flavors, but have the same array of notes.
This beer is about as balanced as any wheat beer can be. Just enough fruit flavors to give spice to a very nice cereal graininess. You can taste banana up front and citrus as it goes down. Delicious flavor and a great medium body to carry it home.
Excellent version of the style.

Cloudy burnt orange colored beer with essential no head.

Smell is spicy, smells of Belgian witbier yeast and bitter orange. Distinct Earl Grey tea aroma. There is a little bruised banana aroma but the Belgian scent is far stronger.

Starts out light and spicy with a banana and oranges flavor. Lemon is present as a slight sourness. Lots of wheat malt but no toasted flavor, think Matzoh bread not saltine cracker. Lightly sweet be really has more of a sensation of starchiness. Slight passion fruit flavor.

Mouthfeel is light.

Overall a weird yet tasty take on the Wheat beer concept. Would love to see their version of a straight up Belgian Witbier.
