A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of roasted malts, black tea, and spices - cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, spicy/black pepper, cloves, allspice & nutmeg. Hints of sweetness.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of dark + roasted malts with a light amount of lactose sweetness. That is followed by just shy of moderate flavors of black tea and spices - cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, spicy/black pepper, cloves, allspice & nutmeg. Light hints of roasty bitterness in the finish with a light to moderate amount of lingering spice notes.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Definitely reminds me of a chai tea though I might have enjoyed a hint more sweetness to it. Enjoyable and easy to drink with well hidden alcohol.

Pours black, thin, with a 1 finger head. Aroma, cinnamon, herbs, basil, mint. Taste, kind of the same, but pretty muted. Creamy. Mouthfeel, pretty thin. Overall. Okay adjunct stout.

An impressive chai-flavored stout that does a nice job with the concept. The nose is relatively subdued, more of a regular milk stout but hinting at the spices to come--predominantly lactose, malted grain, and a whiff of cinnamon. On the tongue, the cardamom and ginger come forward, and both of them taste bright and fresh, like really high-quality ingredients. The lactose is just right to provide a milky balance with the spices. The mouthfeel provides some cognitive dissonance, because I've lost the beer at this point and am mentally expecting more of a thick milk consistency. Quite nice, really.

Cinnamon and ginger dominate the aroma, with notes of roast malt and cocoa countering lactose sweetness. Cardamom and cloves are comparatively subtle.

Flavor is sweet, with more clove prominence upfront, finishing dry and fairly roasty. Cardamom becomes more prevalent as it warms. Not offensively spicy.

Must have had an outlier can because I got a huge foamy head (I promise I didn't drop the can before pouring). Shiny black color with minimal tan lacing (after the huge head died down). Aroma is roasted malts with some cinnamon. Taste is where the tea spices shine through, they really blend well with the roasted malts. The finish leaves a solid coating on the tongue. Overall, a fine spiced stout that has really grown on me.

A - Dark body, short head, lacing and a tiny ring at the edge.

S - Mostly marked by roasted malt, with tea highlights hinting at spices, cardamom and allspice.

T - Lots of the spice notes, with a foundation of roasted malt, just enough to highlight the tea points without overpowering it.

M - Moderate body, slightly slick. Close is pretty clean, all told.

O - A successful melding of chai with stout, producing a welcome spicy experience without getting anywhere close to cloying, which is a nice trick since chai can easily tip into the overwhelming.

Enjoyed from the can via a friend from work----Thanks Justin!

This milk stout pours a dark muddled blackish brown with a touch of light coming through, and a moderate head of light brown foam that dissipates to a thick ring, subtle layer, and nice lacing. Nose of the whole spice rack---ginger, allspice, light milk sugars, and oddly enough tea. Flavors follow the nose with notes of Indian spiced tea with ginger and allspice on the front, milk sugars and cinnamon come through on the middle, and subtle deeply roasted malts show through on the back with a light herb spiced tea note on the rear finishing on the heavy side of the spectrum. Light carbonation, moderately coating, very much a spiced stout that is perfect for the winter months. Unique and boundary breaking. Not your average stout by any stretch of the imagination. A great finisher.
