Enjoyed on tap at Bobbique. Poured a dark brown/black. Slight off white head that did not last. Scent was limited, not too much of anything, maybe some roasted malts, maybe some coffee scents. Taste was very pleasant. I like the mellow combination of roasted malts and slight hoppy bitterness. I got a bit of roasted malts, and as in the scent some coffee. Mouthfeel was unobtrusive, on the thin side. Overall, not great but a very drinkable and enjoyable brew. Hoping pj brews keeps at it. Looking forward to trying some more.

Pours a clear deep deep brown color with a tight off-white head that left a sheet of lacing on the glass as it dissipated.

The aroma is quite weak for the style. I pick up a light twang of floral/grassy hops but that is it. Perhaps a touch of grapefruit. Don't pick up anything from any roasted malt additions.

The taste has some bitter roasted notes from the malt and a solid piney bitterness from the hops. The flavors aren't very complex. There seems to be a weird breakfast cereal flavor (perhaps vegetal/celery, I dunno its weird). I would like to see a tastier roast and hop profile.

Moderate feel with tingly carbonation. Hoppy and roasty bitter throughout the palate. Ok I guess, a bit dry.

I dunno, the beer hits on some of the style points but has some odd characteristics. Needs some tweaking.

Received a growler of this from a co-worker. i believe it was filled within the past three days.

A: Pours and opaque dark brown with a light brown head that settles to a thin veil along the surface of the beer, with a ring of foam around the edge of the glass. The legs on this one are nice. No visible carbonation.

S: Pleasant dark malt profile with notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, subtle coffee, tobacco, dry nutty notes and an earthy undertone with some vegetal notes of fresh pumpkin. This last note is a bit of a turnoff for me in any beer, but overall the nose is nice.

T: The taste falls of a bit with some more watery notes chocolate and coffee. The finish is moderately bitter coffee.

M: Really enjoying the mouthfeel on this one. Soft pillowy feel with low carbonation. Moderate dryness.

D: Very drinkable at 7.2%. I'm not getting any citra hops or sea salt, so I feel the description is way off, but I am very much enjoying the beer, style and description aside. If I weren't enjoying this beer I'd rate it lower for these reasons, but overall it's a quite pleasant beer. Outside of the H3 Tripel, this is my favorite offering so far from Port Jeff.

On draft at The Good Life, Massapequa Park, NY.

Poured a deep brown hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a rigid roasted malt coupled with flashes of grassy hop.

The taste consisted of a moderate burnt malt, with some charcoal and a bit of dry coffee. Balmy hops rounded out the experience.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty hopnforward black IPA.

On tap at Relish in Kings Park, NY. Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger tan head that faded very slowly and left outstanding lacing coating the sides and rings as it went down.

Smells of cocoa powder, caramel, roasted malt, charred wood, burnt coffee and floral hops. More malty than hoppy, but there are enough hops to add balance.

Tastes of citrus hops, toffee, burnt grains, coffee beans, cocoa powder, peat moss, herbs, pepper, grapefruit, light smoke and brown sugar. Nice sweet hoppy notes with brown sugar, toffee and burnt grains. There is some lemon zest and citrus hop working with the roasted notes that make for a nice black IPA. Not the hoppiest in this style, but still a nice local treat for me.

Picked up a growler at Ronkonkama Beverage while home visiting friends and family in NY. I am always amazed each time I go home; it seems there are more breweries opening up on Long Island. I wanted to try something local and this just caught my eye.

Dark, murky brown color but little head besides a creamy cap. Nose is mostly muted but has bits of malt and grapefruit. Flavors are mostly chocolate and coffee with some late citrus hops and some sourness in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is exceptionally smooth and chunky. Alcohol is mostly obscured, which is clutch. Plenty of flavor. Decent for the style.

On draft at the brewery. Deep dark brown, pillowy head. Roasted malt characters meld with bright floral and fruity hops that take over and leave a dry, bitter finish. Could use a bit of cleaning up as the aroma is relatively nondescript, but very good overall

Looks good , real smooth on the palate. Almost creamy like milk. Pours near solid black with a sparse film of head.. Scent of a chocolate malted. Pairs well with a burger on pretzel bread or with a good roast. Probably would make a good beer for a fire pit.
